I am satisfied with myself: Mohena Singh

Mohena Singh talks about struggle of being a princess and more.

Royal princess Mohena Singh is a graceful dancer and fabulous actress. She has participated in many reality shows like Dance India Dance and was also a choreographer in Jhalak Dikkla Jaa. Currently, she is seen in Star Plus’s Ye Rishta Kya Kehelata Hai as Keerti Goenka.

Even though her character is much acclaimed, the leads Kartik (Mohsin Khan) and Naira (Shivangi Joshi) get the maximum footage. When asked if she feels insecure about them taking away the cake, she said, “No, I do not feel insecure and am satisfied with myself. I concentrate on my own work. I am spiritual and content with my life and would never want to take away anybody else in the theory to make it mine.”

Though she is a princess, she did not have it all rosy, as she shared, “Everybody thinks that you have a palate, you have everything so what is the need to do this, why would you do this and I have to explain them that beside being a princess, I am a human being, I also have dreams. So, my struggle was to stop people from making fun of me and the place that I come from. It was difficult to adjust here in the industry as I am from North India. I am very used to giving respect to people saying ‘aap’ and ‘tehzib se baat krna’ where as here it’s like ‘arey tu ye krle’ ‘arey tu woh krle’. It’s not that they are disrespecting people but everyone is very cool and casual here. People are relaxed, chilled out and friendly.”

“Most of the time people think that it’s a joke that I am a princess because they haven’t seen my family, my home.Nobody has taken it seriously which is good for me. When my friends come home to Rewa, they realise the truth. I am a regular girl with regular feelings.”

When asked if she is open to working in more shows, she said, “I am doing a fiction Ye Rishta Kya Kehelata Hai and of course I am interested. I always wanted to become an actor and dancing was always my hobby. Somehow I managed to get into television through Dance India Dance and I am glad that I followed my dreams and I am into a profession that I always wanted to be in. In future, I would like to be part of fiction as well as movies, if the role is interesting.”

Talking about reality shows, she commented, “I am a huge Big Boss fan, but I am not sure if I ever will participate in Big Boss. I love watching it but I am scared of participating. But yes, I would like to participate in shows like Khatron Ke Khiladi. I like reality shows which are fun.”

Good luck Mohena!!
