MUMBAI: Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai continues to dominate the TRP charts and remains one of Indian television’s longest-running fiction dramas. The show recently achieved an extraordinary milestone by completing 5000 episodes.
To mark this historic moment, the makers hosted a grand celebration, bringing together cast members from all generations, the crew, and several key people who have contributed to the show's journey.
Renowned Casting Director Garry was also invited with immense respect. He shared that being remembered by such a big production house and receiving an invitation itself felt extremely special. However, he had no idea that the DKP team had planned an award for him — something that left him stunned.
Recalling the moment, Garry said, “I was in Punjab when I received Vivek ji’s invitation. It also mentioned that Rajan Sir’s birthday would be celebrated. I told him to convey my wishes on my behalf, but he insisted that I attend personally. I spoke to my mother, and she asked me to go.”
“Next thing I know, I was in Mumbai attending the event. I don’t even remember how I managed my tickets and travel on such short notice. When I entered the venue, I was greeted with so many smiling faces. Everyone — from actors to the technical crew — was extremely warm and respectful. I met Rajan Sir and thanked him for remembering me and for all the work we’ve done together. Soon after, the award ceremony began, and while I was enjoying it, I was shocked to hear my name being announced. Receiving the award from Rajan Sir was overwhelming, especially because it was so unexpected.”
Garry added, “I am an independent freelancer, and for a producer like Rajan Shahi to remember me and acknowledge my contribution means a lot. The award was truly the cherry on top. I feel blessed that my first-ever award came from someone as genuine and humble as Rajan Shahi. I’d like to wish him a happy birthday again. I also hope Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai keeps growing and one day completes 50,000 episodes.”
He concluded by saying, “I’d also like to thank Vivek ji, Ajit ji and Rohit ji for always being kind and supportive. Special mention to Jeet Choudhary. I’m grateful to my mother, my maasi and naani for their blessings. And a big thank you to all the artists who trust me and my company.”
