Johnny Depp settles feud with former managers

Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has reached a settlement in his legal battle with the Management Group, averting a trial that was set to begin next month.

Depp sued his former managers in January 2017, accusing them of spending millions of dollars without his permission. He sought $25 million in damages, including years worth of professional fees.

The Management Group, led by Joel and Robert Mandel, filed a countersuit alleging that Depp was responsible for his own financial straits, and documenting millions of dollars of expenditure on wines, luxury homes, household staff, art, private jets, security and a cannon to blast Hunter Thompson's ashes.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed, some media reports suggest

"Johnny Depp is pleased to have achieved a settlement agreement with The Management Group following the legal action he took against the company in January 2017," Depp's spokesperson said in a statement.

"The lawsuit taken out against The Management Group - and the subsequent settlement - is a further demonstration that Johnny is determined to take firm action to protect his personal and artistic reputation in the interests of his family and his career," the spokesperson added.

The trial was scheduled for August 15. The two sides had a mediation with Peter Lichtman, a retired judge who serves as an arbitrator.

Depp still has a pending suit against Jake Bloom, his former attorney whom he accused of malpractice.

Timothee Chalamet in talks to star in 'Dune' remake

Actor Timothee Chalamet is reportedly in final talks to lead the cast of director Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" remake.

Entertainment company Legendary acquired the film and TV rights to Frank Herbert's novels in 2016, and "Blade Runner 2049" filmmaker Villeneuve jumped on board, according to some publication.

According to sources, the "Call Me By Your Name" star is close to signing on as Paul Atreidis, the character a young Kyle MacLachlan played in the cult David Lynch-directed 1984 film.

Herbert's epic science-fiction novels were first published in 1965. The story of "Dune" revolves around the battle for a drug called Melange, which offers users heightened consciousness and an extended lifespan while making interstellar travel possible.

Lynch's 1984 adaptation was plagued with financial problems and battles with his producers, and Villeneuve will be hoping his revamp will be a lot less stressful.

Meryl, Cher lock lips at 'Mamma Mia!...' premiere

Hollywood veteran Meryl Streep and singer-actress Cher locked lips at the premiere of their forthcoming film "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again".

On Monday night, Streep and Cher kissed at the red carpet at the Hammersmith Apollo here, according to some media reports.

The three-time Academy Award-winning actress and the veteran singer have earlier worked together on 1983's "Silkwood" and are reuniting on-screen in the upcoming musical film.

"Cher and Meryl kissing is all I needed," one fan reacted on social media to the pair's kiss. Another commented: "Meryl and Cher officially broke the Internet."

Streep wore a royal blue gown paired with silver hoops for the occasion. Cher oozed rock glamour in an all-black ensemble while styling her black hair voluminous curls.

They were joined by other cast members, including Amanda Seyfried, Lily James, Christine Baranski, Jessica Keenan Wynn and Alexa Davies, as well as ABBA band member Benny Andersson at the premiere.

Lindsay Lohan plans to adopt first child

After bonding with Syrian refugees in Turkey, actress Lindsay Lohan has developed a desire to adopt her first child.

The 32-year-old actress discussed her wish to have a family someday, which has been fuelled by trips to Turkey where she spent time with Syrian refugees, according to some media reports.

In an interview with The Mail, the "Parent Trap" star said she is feeling broody but first plans to "save" a displaced child rather than having her own.

"I'll adopt my first child. I've spent time with Syrian refugees in Turkey, and it made me realise how much I love kids. I just want to save them. I would love to have two or maybe four kids but I have no plans to start my own family yet," she said.

The actress has been single ever since she called off her engagement to Russian billionaire Egor Tarabasov in 2016.

Now, Lindsay insists she is loving the single life, confessing she is happiest when she is man-free.

She said she has no plans to live in the US again, but happily returns for work and to visit some members of her family.

"I am close to my mom, although I have not seen my dad in a while," she said.

Iggy can't date a vegan because she loves sausage

Iggy Azalea has a "crush" on a vegan, but understands they can never date because she loves eating sausage too much.

Azalea wrote about it on Twitter, some reports suggests.

Yes, I am eating tater tots and a hot dog for dinner... at home, in my house. Yes. I am 28 years old. I seriously need to get it together. At least I have solace in the fact I am not alone.

"It's true, I am a millennial and I don't want three children, and my crush is vegan. Clearly I need to give it up. Him I mean. I am not going to live life without hotdogs."

Mara Martin walks on runway while breastfeeding

Model Mara Martin made a statement when she breastfed her five-month-old daughter while she was on the ramp for a fashion show.

The magazine Sports Illustrated, which is famous for its annual swimsuit Issue, was championing motherhood and breastfeeding at its recent model casting competition.

Martin, who was one of the 16 finalists in the Swim Search show, was breastfeeding her five-month-old daughter Aria while doing the catwalk. The new mother walked the runway in a gold two-piece bikini at the event held as a part of Miami Swim Week, reports some publication

Her appearance with her daughter drew loud cheers and applause from the audience.

The magazine shared on its Instagram account a video of Martin walking the runway while carrying her baby. The comment section was flooded with messages praising her for normalising breastfeeding at work.

The model also shared her photographs with her daughter on the catwalk on her own Instagram page.

"I can't believe I am waking up to headlines with me and my daughter in them for doing something I do every day. It is truly so humbling and unreal to say the least. I'm so grateful to be able to share this message and hopefully normalize breastfeeding and also show others that women can do it all," she wrote in the caption.

She used the opportunity to raise awareness about other important issues.

"But to be honest, the real reason I can't believe it is a headline is because it should not be a headline! My story of being a mother and feeding her while walking is just that," she added, pointing out to other women whose stories she feels the world should discuss.

For the last few years, the magazine has been trying to change the traditional beauty standards by featuring plus-size models on its cover. It also supports gender equality by championing female photographers behind the lens.

New 'Rugrats' series, movie on the way

A relaunch of the children's entertainment franchise "Rugrats" has been announced by Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures.

A new animated-series revival featuring the characters from the 1990s' cartoon has got a 26-episode order from Nickelodeon. Paramount Players, the new film division launched to develop projects based on properties from Viacom cable channels, has given the green light to a live-action film featuring CGI characters, reports some publication.

Both the TV series and the movie will include new adventures with beloved characters Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica and will also introduce a new world of characters.

The show's original creators Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain will return to the TV series as executive producers. "Rugrats" will be produced in California, with production already underway. Additional news of the TV series, airdate and casting will be announced in the coming months.

"Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures," said Sarah Levy, Chief Operating Officer, Viacom Media Networks and interim president of Nickelodeon.

Levy added: "What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can't wait for today's kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals."

The "Rugrats" movie will be written by David Goodman and is set to be released on November 13, 2020.

"Now feels like the ideal time to reintroduce this iconic cast of characters to a whole new generation of young fans. Kids who grew up with Tommy Pickles and the 'Rugrats' crew will now be able to share that experience with their own children," said Paramount Players President Brian Robbins.

"Rugrats" joins the recently announced return of "Blue's Clues" as the latest classic original series Nickelodeon is bringing back for today's generation of children and families.

Jessica Simpson's husband makes her want to 'stay young'

Actress Jessica Simpson thinks her husband Eric Johnson is the reason she is "hot".

"He keeps me hot, I have to say... He's always throwing around the kids, and he's just an amazing father, it makes me want to stay young. Like how can you be so active? I mean watching the kids running makes me exhausted," Simpson told a leading publication.

Although they are very loved up, the actress and her beau have no plans to add anymore little ones to their brood because their two children keep them on their toes already.

"We're good, we are chilling. I mean we're very happy and we know how to make babies very well but, we got the little one here," she said.

Simpson regularly gushes about how proud she is of her children "The most rewarding part of being a mother is really just watching my kids grow. It's like, how much knowledge they have about life is just so meaningful to me, and how much heart they put into everything they do. There's just nothing like the innocence of a child," she said.

Drew Barrymore is off dating sites

Actress Drew Barrymore has decided she does not want to use dating applications anymore even though they are "fun".

"I got off (dating apps). It was fun to try though. I've been working out there in the public since I was young so that myth of the blind date alluded me and I always wanted to do it so that was like a dating app for me. But then it's not blind on my side so it just, I don't know, doesn't work," Barrymore told a media portal.

She was desperate to get out there again after her split. But Barrymore was surprised that none of her friends attempted to set her up with anyone.

"None of my friends ever set me up! I think I have the same old friends for so long, were all in such a rhythm, we don't even think like that."

The "50 First Dates" star is now using her spare time to look after herself.

She said: "Working mums forget to put a little bit (of time and effort) into ourselves but the tiniest little bit of concealer can make such a difference in your self-confidence. So even one minute or 30 seconds, can just sort of boost your self-esteem, and it's important to remember to take that time to do that."

The actress is now on a mission to prove to her two daughters that she is a strong woman.

Lily James won't have 'space' in Downton Abbey movie

When the cast of TV series "Downton Abbey" returns for the upcoming big screen movie adaption, it will be without one of the series beloved stars Lily James.

The actress, who starred as Lady Rose MacClare on the PBS drama, confirmed that she will not appear in the "Downton Abbey" movie, which has officially been given the green light.

"I'm sadly not, but I'm so excited for it -- I'm going to be front row," James, 29 told.

"I spoke to Laura (Carmichael]) not long ago and was texting Michelle (Dockery) about Love Island and it's going to be really exciting. And the whole gang is coming back," shares James, who stars in "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again", in theaters Friday.

As for why James' character will not be featured in the film, the British star confirms that "it wasn't schedules."

"My character Rose moved off to New York, so it would be farfetched to bring her back," she said.

"I would have loved to have come back for a scene, but for a movie it can't be like a Christmas special and it needs to be a focused storyline. There was no space for Rose," James added.

China's most expensive film pulled after opening weekend

China's most expensive fantasy epic film "Asura" has been pulled from cinemas after a dismal opening weekend, a media report said on Tuesday.

The 750 million yuan ($112 million) film reportedly made less than 50 million yuan on its weekend debut, the BBC reported.

Loosely based on Buddhist mythology, the movie tells the story of a shepherd protecting a mythical heavenly realm from attack.

Producers are reportedly planning to rework the movie and release it again at a later date.

Unless the film achieves much greater success the second time round, "Asura's" $105 million loss would make it one of the biggest flops in movie history.

The elaborate fantasy film was backed by some of China's major movie companies: Alibaba Pictures, Zhenjian Film Studio and Ningxia Film Group.

Before its release, the film was showered with praise by state media, with the China Daily calling it the "most hotly anticipated blockbuster of China's competitive summer season".
