MUMBAI : 1. you have been an actor who has always been associated with meaningful work how does that feel?
So happy to know thats how you feel… Looks like i’ve done something right, if thats the perception. I have always wanted to do work that i believe in & have always followed my instincts. More importantly i feel grateful for the good work that has come my way, allowing me to choose it.
2. it’s been a decade and over in the industry do you find a huge change from when you started to today ?
Absolutely there has been a huge shift in the industry & for me as well. Earlier the options were limited for me since i wanted to do only films. Also it was easier to get typecasted in a particular type of role. But now with the OTT space that has picked up in such a huge way & the amazing content being created for web be it web films or series, the options have hugely opened. Also filmmakers are ready to experiment with actors in vastly different characters than what they are normally known for… With the exposure to so much international web content, also the audience have evolved & are ready & waiting to see well made, out of the box content…. Box office nos. dont define the success of web content. & most good films or series will eventually find its audience sooner or later.
Also social media has become a huge platform & so many content creaters are getting a chance to come up from there… Though I’m not comfortable with some aspect of social media personally. Its almost become crucial for actors to be active on social media & you are judged by the no. of followers you have…. Which i feel is sad. Coz not all actors are content creators or enjoy making content & reels for instagram, but may be excellent at their job… & not all content creaters are good actors irrespective of their following… & sadly a lot of casting has been happening on the basis of the no. Of followers on instagram.
So i guess some changes are welcome some not so much.
3. next what can we expect from you ?
I have a film called Pune Highway i’m excited about. It brings our team of Barot House together again… its directed by Bugs Bhargava & Rahul D’Cunha. Will be working alongside Amit Sadh & Jim Sarbh in that.
Abbas Mustan sir’s Penthouse (name might change) in which i appear in a cameo opposite Sharman Joshi.
& A film called ‘Zindagi Namkeen’ directed by National Award Winning director Gajendra Ahire. Will be collaborating with Shreyas Talpade again on that after Wah Taj.
4. you were one of the channel V pop stars do you intend to make that into a full fledged profession too ?
Yes Music has been on the backburner since a while now… While i have been focusing on my acting predominantly, alongside i had been training my voice with Sucheta Bhattacharjee. Have been learning Indian Classical from her. I feel ready now to begin my journey in the Music industry… in fact my debut single just released on all streaming platforms. Its called ‘Aao Na’. Music is by Gourov Dasgupta. Its for an album called LoFi Baarish where all songs in the album are related to Baarish….
& then there are gonna be more songs coming very soon…😊
5. who are the actors you have on your wishlist ?
Thats a long list….I really want to work with Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan , Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranvir Singh, Rajkumar Rao, Vicky Kaushal & I really want to work with Imran again.
I also really want to work with Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, Glen Powell, Cillian Murphy…..
Well its a long never-ending list… 😅
