The designer is making his debut at the India Couture Week that is starting on Wednesday.

Talking about his collection, he says his "Crystalis" is inspired by its namesake.

"We have explored a range of hand done three-dimensional embroideries in various crystalline and bio mimicked forms and motifs. Our silhouettes are an amalgamation of different aspects of traditional Indian and western couture shapes infused with structure and form to enhance the female body.

"A special highlight is our collaboration with Tanira Sethi on a range of one-of-a-kind cashmere lace textiles woven in France, which makes this collection unique from our previous lines. We have also collaborated with Outhouse in designing jewellery inspired by various complex crystalline structures and intricate organic forms such as that of the metallic chrysalis cocoon.

"All the jewellery pieces have been crafted using materials and metallic colours that blend effortlessly with our collection's colour palette," he said.

Pooja Kumar wants to explore Hindi cinema more

Indo-American actress Pooja Kumar, who plays a pivotal role in Kamal Hassan-starrer Vishwaroop 2, says the changing image of women in Indian cinema is quite exciting for artists like her and so, she wishes to explore more Hindi films. Born and brought up in the US, Pooja has acted in various south Indian films.

Asked if she is interested to pursue a career in the Hindi film industry, Pooja said, "I have lived in America all my life and I have a career there. So unless I am living in Mumbai, I cannot really push myself.

"But yes, of course, given an opportunity, I surely want to explore Hindi films. This is a good time for actresses."

According to her, Indian cinema has projected women in a very strong manner in the early days and she believes the country's cinema is very progressive.

"I have grown up watching Indian cinema and I am introduced to our Indian culture very beautifully. I loved watching some of the iconic black and white movies, films of the 1960s and 1970s followed by the work of some progressive filmmakers like Satyajit Ray and K. Balachander.

"Think about a story like Charulata and Avargal. Both the films revolve around a female character. The projection of women back then was so strong, interesting and complex enough to connect with the reality," said the actress.

Kamal sir watched my work in America and contacted my manager. When my manager called me saying, 'A popular Indian actor, filmmaker Kamal Hassan wants to talk to you. Have you heard of him?', I was jumping out of excitement! I was like yes yes yes'.

"We spoke on a video call and then Vishwaroop 2 happened," Pooja narrated.

Written and directed by Kamal Hasaan, Vishwaroop 2 is releasing on 10 August.

The Hindi version of this bilingual will be presented by Rohit Shetty and Reliance Entertainment. The Tamil version and the Telugu dubbed version is produced by Raajkamal Films International for Aascar Films Pvt Ltd.

Story of 'Karwaan' close to my heart, says director

Akarsh Khurana, director of the forthcoming film Karwaan featuring National Award-winning Irrfan Khan, says he wrote the story four years ago and it is very close to his heart.

Akarsh, also an actor, wrote the story of the film when he got one-liner idea from filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar about the delivery of a wrong dead body.

"The story is very close to my heart. I developed the idea into a story with three main characters. It was quite an interesting process. Since we finished the first draft of the story four years ago, we kept updating the characters with time to keep them relevant. Our dialogue writer Hussain Dalal has done a good job," Akarsh told a publication.

The story of Karwaan revolves around Avinash who receives the wrong dead body of his father and goes on a road trip to find out what happened in reality, and how during the journey, he meets people and faces situations that change his life.

Sharing his experience of working with two renowned actors - Irrfan and Dulquer Salmaan, Akarsh said, "It was a privilege to work with an actor like Irrfan Khan because when we were writing the story, we had no idea who is going to play the character.

"Also, it was great to work with Dulquer because being such a great star down south, he was so cooperative during the shooting. We worked really close."

The film has been shot within 35 days in places like Ooty, Bengaluru and Cochin.

"Shooting the film in a chronological order following the story was actually a good idea for us because that made our schedule easier. We did not have to do a lot of juggling with the dates of actors," he said.

Coming from a theatre background, Akarsh believes in maintaining happy vibe on the set of a film.

"In theatre, we do not earn a lot of money but we work out of passion, we work happily. I think positive vibes help to get a good work done," he said.

The film is releasing on 3 August.
