World Environment Day: Mother nature is still giving us warnings: MasterChef contestant Priyanka Biswas

MUMBAI: World Environment Day is celebrated every year on the 5th of June to create awareness about preserving and protecting the environment. But are we really trying to protect and preserve it. The mandatory lockdown imposed in the country saw so many changes in the environment, and all of them were good, positive changes. So it clearly means that the environment and mother nature are happy without us humans.

The recent news about the brutal killing of the pregnant elephant in Kerala was the lowest we could have gone. And we are suffering because of our own doings, from cyclone Amphan to Nisarga, it is nature's way of telling us that enough is enough. MasterChef contestant Priyanka Biswas feels that nature is still giving us warning to clean up our mess before it's too late.

"Mother nature is still warning us, continuously, to start giving preserving and protecting our environment, and give equal importance and respect to everyone or else it will be an end of an era for us too. We, humans, were made to take care of the unspeakable on earth, to be their voice, we were given strength and intelligence to create a better future for all the living beings rather we're misusing our power in a competition to rule this world. Hence, mother nature has taken her steps to make everyone clear that there's no power or strength greater than the almighty," Priyanka said.

She further added that by protecting the environment, we will be protecting ourselves too.

Priyanka feels it's a simple 'tit for tat' situation, what we did to mother nature, we are getting it all back.

She said, "Starting from cyclones to killing of the innocent animals be it the pregnant elephant or a dog, we've forgotten humanity. We've become self-obsessed and we don't care about others. But yes, there are still a bunch of people who are continuously aiming to restore our faith in humanity, and thanks to them we are still on the safer side. But not everything is in worst shape though, we can see the ozone layer healing."

"It's now proven that being literate doesn't make you a better person you need your upbringing and conscience to be a person indeed. We've to change our mindsets. I  believe now is the time when we need to feed each other, be it humans, birds or animals, and not just ourselves," Priyanka signed off.
