#BoycottNetflix was trending on Twitter after netizens accused Netflix shows of hurting religious sentiments. While a section of Netizens called for a boycott, another section shared hilarious memes over the hashtag, especially about those who haven’t subscribed to the OTT platform. Check it out!

MUMBAI: Online streaming platform Netflix has courted controversy after Twitterati accused it of streaming shows that hurt religious sentiments. While this has also happened in the past, with people having raised objections over certain scenes from Sacred Games 2, and Leila, this time around, it is over the film Krishna and His Leela. Netizens were furious about the names of Hindu deities being used in a show with erotic content, and soon, #BoycottNetflix was trending on Twitter. Some also pointed out scenes from Bulbbul and other Netflix content, as they were trending the hashtag.

And just like anything else on social media, some netizens decided to make memes on #BoycottNetflix. While a section of netizens called for a boycott, another section shared hilarious memes over the hashtag, especially about those who haven’t subscribed to the OTT platform. These hilarious memes feature popular dialogues and scenes from not just Bollywood films, but also Hollywood content. A few of the memes feature Kangana Ranaut, Sanjay Dutt, Jimmy Sheirgill, and it is sure to leave you in splits. The memes jokingly target those who are either not on Netflix, but are still asking for ‘Boycott Netflix’, or those who recently subscribed to Netflix, and are worried about their subscription.

Meanwhile, those wanting to Boycott Netflix accused the OTT platform of airing Hinduphobic content. A user wrote, “How dare netflix and @AnushkaSharma openly insult hindu Gods in 'bulbul' web series on Netflix. HOW DARE THEY make derogatory, disgusting comments about krishna and radha? They aren't going to stop until we completely boycott netflix. That's the least we can do. #BoycottNetflix."
