MUMBAI: Frequent flight delays across multiple IndiGo routes have sparked a wave of online reactions, with celebrities also weighing in.

Actor Jay Bhanushali shared his experience on social media after enduring repeated delays, while Aly Goni appealed to passengers to show understanding and avoid blaming airline ground staff for issues beyond their control.

Taking to Instagram stories, Jay Bhanushali wrote, “After so many hours of travel, I deserve to be welcomed with this song.. Thank you Indigo for the unplanned extended trip.”

Aly Goni also shared a video urging people not to misbehave with ground staff, emphasising that they have no authority over the situation and are doing their best to resolve the issues.

The airline has cancelled all domestic IndiGo flights departing from Delhi until midnight, amid what is being called one of the worst operational meltdowns in the carrier’s 20-year history.

Over the past four days, the airline has faced increasing disruption, with more than 700 flights cancelled today alone — the highest single-day cancellation count in its history.

Passengers at major hubs including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai have reported long queues, missing luggage, limited assistance and widespread confusion.

IndiGo has acknowledged that it misjudged crew requirements under recently revised duty norms, resulting in severe shortages at a time when winter weather and airport congestion were already putting pressure on operations.

Despite corrective measures, the airline has warned that further cancellations may occur over the next two to three days as it attempts to stabilise schedules. CEO Pieter Elbers told employees that restoring normal operations and the airline’s hallmark punctuality will not be an “easy target”.

As IndiGo works to recover from the operational disruption, passengers are advised to check flight schedules carefully, remain patient, and maintain respectful communication with airline staff.

While the coming days may continue to pose challenges, IndiGo’s corrective efforts aim to restore reliability and minimise further inconvenience for travellers across India.
