Tell us about your role in Kumkum
I play the role of Pulkit who used to love Kumkum but when she got married he was taken aback. Now Pulkit enters Kumkum’s life to spoil everything. He is all set to make Kumkum’s husband miserable. I also have a daughter in the show called Kajal and she’ll be my partner in crime. It feels good to come back to television with a different character to play.
Why did you choose to make a comeback in a negative role?
Playing a nice guy on television was getting monotonous. A negative role has grey shades and sometimes even white shades. I wanted to break my previous image and thus I chose to do this show.
Aren’t you afraid of being tagged as a bad guy?
I don’t think so but even if I am there is no harm. I’ll be happy. Now I have also decided to cast my net wider. Its not just Hindi entertainment channels or Bollywood but I’m also going regional.
What’s more on the television front?
For now Kumkum is the only show that I’m doing. Besides that I keep doing one or two episodes of Shhh… Phir Koi Hai on Star One. Contiloe has hired me as an in- house employee! When there is no one they call me. I love to work with them as it’s very comfortable.
What’s going on with your films?
I’ve a film releasing soon with Ritesh and Aftab, called De Tali. It also includes Ayesha Takia and Rimi Sen. I play a comic role of a drunkard. It’s a fun- filled movie and the shooting of the same will get over next month.
I have also completed one Telagu film called Thondo and a Bangla movie named Krishna. In both the films I play the role of a villain.
Since you are a pilot are you not considering this career option?
I’m planning to renew my flying license very soon. I could not pursue this as a profession as earlier there were very limited airlines.
I managed to get in to Sahara Airlines but then there was a plane crash in Delhi and I was forced to wait. I was unemployed for a year or two but then I started getting some modelling offers and after that there was no looking back. Currently I may not opt for flying as a profession but will surely fly for the love of it.
