Tinsel Town celebs who will celebrate Diwali away from home due to shoot and pandemic fear

MUMBAI: The auspicious festival of Diwali is just two days away, and the festivities have already begun. While in the usual scenario Diwali means spending time with family, friends, and loved ones, binging on to homemade delicacies and having a gala time at home, work commitments can at times hamper all the fun and festivities. Which is what our favorite TV stars are going to face this time. Since the shoots for all the shows have started after a long break due to the coronavirus lockdown, TV celebs who are in Mumbai right now will have to give the traveling to their hometowns a miss.

Here are the list of celebs who are giving it a miss

Shivangi Joshi who belongs to Dehradun is not travelling to home this Diwali. But no worries, since Shivangi plans to join the celebrations with the family on a video call. She says, “I will be in Mumbai and because of COVID-19 we can’t have any friends or relatives over. I want to light up my house with diyas, make rangoli and also prepare some sweets,” says Shivangi, adding, “Meeting friends and Diwali parties will be missed this year. But safety and security are of prime importance, I hope everyone has realised that.”

Rati Pandey currently starring in Shaadi Mubarak is going to miss the Diwali celebration with her family this time because she is busy with the shoot. Although she considers that festivals are more fun with family around, she is going to be all by herself this time. Rati shares, “I would have loved to visit my family back in Patna for Diwali, but I am busy shooting for my show 'Devi Aadi Parashakti', so I will not be able to go. I plan to have a small celebration. I will light some diyas around my house and do puja.”

Lockdown Ki Lovestory actor Anirudd Dave will be busy shooting for the show and will not travel to Jaipur to celebrate Diwali with his parents. He talks about the mithai’s that he is going to miss and says, “Every year I go home, but this year, since I am shooting and my wife is also pregnant, I will not be travelling. I will miss the lights of Jaipur and the mithais and food items which are made there and are not available anywhere else.” Aniruddh adds, “I will do the basic rituals and puja at home in Mumbai. I will light candles and diyas. One must understand that this Diwali is different. The definition of celebration has changed this year. One shouldn’t party this year at all. I will do a video call with my close friends and family members on Diwali.”

Tarun Khanna, currently seen in 'Devi Adi Parashakti' says that he had to cancel his plans to travel to Delhi on Diwali, the only festival that he celebrates enthusiastically, due to the pandemic. He says, “Diwali is the only festival which I celebrate with a lot of vigour. This year also I was looking forward to celebrating with my brother, who lives in Delhi, but due to the coronavirus and other restrictions, I have decided not to go. Though I have been travelling to Delhi for work, travelling with family on the festival might not be feasible, so I will stay in Mumbai.” He further adds that this time he will celebrate Diwali at his new home in Mumbai for the first time, and says, “Of course, there is nothing like celebrating with family.”

Reyhna has decided to stay in Mumbai this time as she cannot travel to Srinagar and stay away from the shoot for a long time. She says, “I will be shooting during the day, but I am off from work the afternoon before Diwali. So I will light up my home and go shopping. On the night of Diwali, I might visit a close friend’s house or she might come over and we will have dinner together. I will really miss all the pampering that I get at home on Diwali and the food I get to eat. But this year, safety is our priority so I would enjoy some ‘me time’ this Diwali
