MUMBAI: Colors TV's most-popular supernatural series Naagin's legacy has been going on over 6 years now with it's first season's first episode airing on 1st November 2015. The show has been helmed by the Balaji Telefim's production house and 5 proper seasons have been showcased so far. A stellar lead cast line-up has been a part of this show like actors Mouni Roy, Nia Sharma, Surbhi Jyoti, Anita Hassanandini, Arjun Bijlani, Rajat Tokas, Hina Khan, Mohit Malhotra and others.
Talking about the fifth installment of this series, actors Surbhi Chandna, Sharad Malhotra, Mohit Sehegal, Dheeraj Dhoopar amongst others were a part of this project, while Sharad and Surbhi played the main lead characters of Veer and Bani.
Primarily being a story based on a loose-ended folklore on a shape-shifting female serpent, Naagin is a super-successful show that is tremendously loved by it's audience till date.
After the show went off-air with the commencement of it's spin-off show Kuch Toh Hai Naagin - Ek Naye Rang Mein on 7th February 2021, both Sharad and Surbhi appeared in a recent interview together, wherein they were quizzed regarding their on-screen characters in the show and the personal-level challenges they faced while portraying the characters.
Regarding the lead couples most-cherished on-screen chemistry, Sharad expressed that their pairing and camaraderie was very natural, organic and airy, that helped them to click instantly. According to Surbhi's take on the same, when two good-looking people come together, their chemistry naturally hits-off instantly (she considered both herself and Sharad good-looking actors). Also, she mentioned the importance of a tightly-gripping character-sketch of all on-screen roles that helps turn-on the chemistry well.

Both Surbhi and Sharad confessed that they gelled well as an 'unusual pair' - like a permutation combination.
Talking about feeling their on-screen character too close to that of their own like their 'second-skin', Sharad clearly denied this fact stating that an actor must keep exploring their inert potentials on a daily basis to enhance the particular roles they are playing in that time span, hence one must not get too much attached to their on-screen characters ele the scope of exploring one's reserved abilities diminishes.
Surbhi revealed that she was initially scared while taking up Bani's role as the main lead as it was a huge responsibility on her part to carry on with the supernatural show's legacy and to maintain her performance's parity with that of the previous actresses' who portrayed Naagin's roles.
Lauding Surbhi's performance as Bani, Sharad appreciated her acting skills, hardwork and dedication that went behind highlighting Bani's role on-screen. He even stated that Surbhi has a tendency of cracking jokes amid shots to keep a light atmosphere around them, however she took no time to turn sincere and dedicated towards her work once she was back in her character. He also recalled how the initial Surbhi, who was extremely nervous on the first day of their shoot, has undergone a radical transformation through Bani's role in terms of her confidence-development and the pushing of her boundaries beyond her initial limits through her hard work. Lastly, he asserted that no other actress could live-up as Bani the way Surbhi did and even Ekta Kapoor was sure-shot confident on Surbhi's capability of nailing Bani's role.
Adding on, Surbhi was quoted saying, "One thing I like about my ownself (yeah I'm not bragging but yes), when I take up something...anything in life, be it work, non-work, etc...etc... I'm so passionate as a person.".
Regarding Sharad as an actor, Surbhi expressed with a big heart that he's the star of the show with alot of sincerity in him. Despite having fun around on the sets by cracking jokes as well, he too gets dedicated towards his role once in the scene. She also revealed the sandbagging nature of him (like a first-bencher), when he used to claim of not knowing his script, while he actually knew everything about it by-heart. On this note, Sharad shared that apart from Surbhi knowing her script, she was well-versed with that of the other character's as well and laid special emphasis on the prevalent punctuations therein.
Lastly, Surbhi confessed that Naagin 5 was her toughest show till date, to which Sharad asserted that from performing the high-energy level dance-form 'Taandav' to pulling-off the heavy-duty emotional scenes, Surbhi underwent massive improvisation of her acting skills. She had and she prefers to act raw for her role in a show by keeping her past experiences and achievements aside as she gets to learn from everybody.
