A page from the personal diary of Karan Goddwani Hello everyone, this is Karan Goddwani, whom you know as Nand Kishore (NK) from my highly appreciated show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon on Star Plus. Well…let me first introduce myself. I’m a European guy from Spain who was born and brought up there. I also did my schooling back there. But being loyal to my country India and not wanting to be an NRI all my life, I preferred working in my own country. It was weird for people when they got to know that I left Spain for a career here in India but I don’t really regret my move of shifting here. It’s really wonderful to have fans, get floored by their praises and draw attention of flirty girls. I still remember when I made an entry into India; people used to stare at me as if I had landed from some other planet. Reason? I was fair enough with red hair and too skinny a posture. People usually had a doubt about my gender, but slowly I brought about a change in me. And all the credit for this goes to the directors (of TV shows) who helped me in changing and getting an Indian or you can say a Mumbaiya look. I have one thing very common with other career conscious-people in Mumbai, and that is hard work. The first few months were really very tough. I still remember the way I used to travel by buses, trains and autos because I had this self esteem very active in me of not asking money from my father. My parents were not really against me shifting to India. On the contrary, they supported me in every move I made. Traveling is something I love the most. I’m a kind of an explorer who craves to know things. Earlier, I had a problem in handling things alone like shopping, managing my daily chores etc but, now it seems I have come out of it, hence I have zero pareshani. I have grown with things happening with me, taking everything positively and learning from them rather than just cribbing. My struggle period lasted for around one and half years because achievement is something which either comes in one stroke or require years. My first break call was not easy, but after so much of struggle, getting a call directly for a lead role, washes away all your pain. You never forget your first experience; it lasts forever with you. I still remember the way I was shivering to say a single word during my first audition; but later on, I got used to it. Well my career’s maximum credit goes to Lovell Prabhuji the famous talent groomer, image stylist and fashion choreographer who is himself a brand and called ‘Father of Newcomers’. His determination to polish me is the result what I am today. I owe a major part of my success to him. Being lonely is something which is more terrible than death, but you can’t run away from it; At times I used to cry when auditions didn’t turn up positively after which people used to give me that sympathy looks. But see today, people take my autograph, photographs and send me letters. The best part of my career is that I have played different kind of roles which carry their own spice. It’s difficult to choose any one as the best because you can’t really keep any role unnoticed. What I like is, along with children, even elders appreciate my work. Presently I’m not working on any project but have a keen eye on something coming up and make sure that you guys (audience) will be the first ones to know about it. So this is me, your NK, who is working hard to entertain you guys and it’s my pleasure to have you as my fans.
