MUMBAI: Aetashaa Sansgiri is ruling the television screen with her performance as Ahilyabai in Sony TV's popular historical drama series Punyashlok Ahilyabai.
She made her television debut with this show as a lead and has proved her mettle through her acting chops.
Playing such a pivotal and different role in a debut show is not everyone's cup of tea, but Aetashaa has managed to pull it off really well.
The actress has managed to win the hearts of the audiences and has built a good fan following for herself.
TellyChakkar got in touch with Aetashaa who spoke about the show and many more things.
Tell us about your journey in Ahilya Bai and how challenging has it gotten with time as the show witnesses various tracks where we can see different shades of Ahilya?
Honestly, it's not challenging. Once you understand the character and you know how the approach is. After understanding, as an actor, you start living that character as well. It is not challenging but there are certain scenes that are very demanding. There are certain scenes where a proper dialect and language are used. It becomes challenging to exactly portray the same. Otherwise, the story is well-woven around.
If not Ahilyabai, what kind of show would you have chosen for your Hindi TV debut?
I really don't know. When you are in the early days of your career, you don't choose work, the work chooses you. The choice of accepting and rejecting scripts will happen sometime in the future in my career. I never thought why I didn't get this kind of a role and I should have done this. Before Ahilya, I was doing a regional show. When I was finalised for Ahilya, I never had second thoughts about it. Ahilya was everything I wanted.
How has life changed after Ahilyabai?
When it comes to fame, people know me now. Otherwise, my personal life is pretty much the same. I still stay with my parents. I am living a simple life just like a girl of my age lives. When it comes to working, I am in a little pressurized phase. I fear I'll commit some mistake as Ahilya is one such character whom people worship. It is a very big responsibility to do justice to this character.
Well said, Aetashaa!
