MUMBAI:Vivek Oberoi is one of the famous names in the Hindi film industry. The actor started his career 20 years ago with the 2002 release Company. In the last few years, he has also been a part of South films like Vivegam. Vinaya Vidheya Rama, and others. Currently, Vivek is busy garnering praise for his performance in the web series Dharavi Bank.

TellyChakkar recently interacted with Vivek and spoke to him about the South vs Bollywood debate, and more…

There’s a debate that the South might take over Bollywood. What are your views on it?

What I love about the South (film industry) is that there’s a lot of respect for time, they are very punctual; there’s a lot of respect for the amount of money that’s being spent.

Vivek explains the difference between South and Hindi film industries…

In Hindi, if 100 rupees is to be spent we find a way to spend 150 rupees. They (South industry) try to save every penny and make sure that every dollar spent is visually seen on screen. Sometimes you watch a movie made with Rs. 200 crores and you feel where it is on screen. They focus on telling a story, and the uniqueness of that story. But, there will be a new wave, a thought process where talent will be more important.

The actor agrees with Suniel Shetty about cinema not being celebrated

We have a culture of celebration. We should celebrate a release, celebrate a film and its music; it’s a fraternity.
