MUMBAI: Apple is known for its classy design and seamless, yet powerful functionality. They have established themselves as a leading brand in smartphone technology that have set trends for their top end flagship devices, with the latest and the best specs. But most of all, Apple is known for their camera technology in their iPhones, which always provide the best of class photos and videos.
While they work to bring their best in their gadgets, Apple is known to not disclose the distributors and manufacturers of their components. But recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook took to Twitter and revealed the fact that Apple and Sony have collaborated with each other, with Sony providing the top-class camera sensors for Apple’s iPhones. The tweet shows Tim Cook posing with Sony’ CEO Kenichiro Yoshida showing Apple’s CEO around the Sony facility. Take a look.
We’ve been partnering with Sony for over a decade to create the world’s leading camera sensors for iPhone. Thanks to Ken and everyone on the team for showing me around the cutting-edge facility in Kumamoto today. pic.twitter.com/462SEkUbhi

Other than this, Apple has not been too outspoken about suppliers and manufacturers for its battery, chip, and display. But the thing that is known, as some supply chain analysts had revealed that Apple’s screens, both on the front and the back glass were being made by Corning, and the main OLED panels on the iPhones were being manufactured by Samsung and LG, and the chipsets are made by the well-known chip manufacturers, TSMC.
It doesn’t seem like the Sony-Apple partnership for camera hardware won’t end anytime soon, but it is not confirmed. According to rumours, Sony is working on a brand-new sensor using semiconductor technology that will let in more light, and possibly lower the chances of over or underexposure in pictures drastically. We will surely get to see this in the future generations of iPhones.
