MUMBAI :Bhuvan Bam started his journey with comedy videos on YouTube, and his YT channel BB Ki Vines has more than 25 million subscribers. Now, he is all set for his OTT debut with the web series Taaza Khabar which will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on 6th January 2023.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Bhuvan and spoke to him about the web series, how he planned to become an actor, and more…
The trailer of Taaza Khabar is intriguing, but it doesn’t give out much about the web series. So, tell us something about it…
In this show, everything is all heart. It is a rooted story of different individuals who aspire to do something in life. They do get what they want, but will they get it through the hard way or easily? That's the challenge in the show. Also, we have tried to make it as commercial as possible because that’s how the show has been shot. I think more than that the performances of every actor in the show is something that you haven’t seen before. So, I feel for these reasons it’s a must-watch and I want people to give it a chance.

In the trailer, we get to see a couple of romantic scenes between you and Shriya Pilgaonkar. So, was it difficult to get the chemistry perfect?
That was the easiest because the writing of the show is very simple. It’s an earnest show; we haven’t tried to show anything heroic. In the trailer, you can see that they are two helpless lovers and they are talking to each other. So, for chemistry, we didn’t do anything. We didn’t even meet before the shoot; we just met once during the narration. On the set, then we spoke about life because when the camera setup is happening, you don’t have anything to do. So, if you know someone off the camera, then it reflects on the screen.
When you started with YouTube was acting on your mind or it just happened?
I think I have taken a different route which is very unconventional. I started giving auditions for reality shows, but when I came to the actual reality of them, I decided to take a different route. Seven years ago, you couldn’t tell your family that you were going to make a career out of YouTube. It still looks like madness. I always wanted to entertain people, be it through comedy or any kind of emotion because I feel in today’s day and age we lack emotions as audiences. We have free internet and we only write and troll each other. So, I wanted to give emotions to audiences through music or comedy or in any other way. When I started doing different characters, and when I did my 10th character, I realized that maybe I can also do full-fledged acting.
