Samantha Ruth Prabhu reacts on being part of the Indian Citadel universe, says, “I decided to take it up in a heartbeat!”

MUMBAI : Samantha Ruth Prabhu is all set to star in the Indian version of the Citadel universe. Amazon Prime Video has confirmed this on social media that Samantha will be a part of the project and shared her stunning first look. The untitled Citadel series from Prime Video and Russo Brothers’ AGBO is being directed by Raj & DK, who is known for their The Family Man series.

The Digital platform also confirmed that the shooting of the series is underway in Mumbai as we speak. The series, that is written by Sita R. Menon, along with Raj & DK, will then head to North India and then to international locales like Serbia and South Africa.

Speaking about Samantha joining the Indian installment of Citadel, Aparna Purohit, head of India Originals, Prime Video said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Samantha once again. She made her streaming debut with The Family Man Season Two, on Prime Video, and is one of the most talented artists in the industry today. We can’t wait for audiences to see her on-screen in a brand new avatar, along with Varun and the incredibly talented ensemble cast we have on board for this series.”

On being part of the series, Samantha said, “When Prime Video and Raj & DK approached me with this project, I decided to take it up in a heartbeat! After working with this team on The Family Man, it is a homecoming for me.” Speaking of working with Varun Dhawan, she added, “The Citadel universe, the interconnected storylines between the productions across the globe, and most importantly, the script of the Indian installment really excited me. I am thrilled to be a part of this brilliant universe conceptualized by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO. I am also looking forward to working with Varun for the first time on this project. He is someone who is full of life and cheers when you’re around him.”

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK will also be the executive producers of the series, under their banner D2R Films. The series is produced by D2R Films and Amazon Studios,  along with AGBO’s Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, Scott Nemes, and David Weil.
