Anupam Kher spotlights “ This Two Recognizable” Cannes 2024 winners and the growing popularity of content-driven films

Hindi film industry legend Anupam Kher talked about Cannes 2024 and also about how heartwarming content-driven movies are and how it's helping lesser-known performers get noticed.

MUMBAI: There have always been two types of films in the Hindi film industry: content-driven films and the usual masala entertainers starring huge actors. Indeed, audiences have demonstrated this repeatedly. Showed the same level of affection to the films with strong substance.

In an interview with an entertainment portal, Anupam Kher talked about how heartwarming content-driven movies are and how it's helping lesser-known performers get noticed.

Speaking about how a movie like Laapataa Ladies performed incredibly well at the box office, Anupam Kher stated that content is crucial in today's world. Highlighting some more Indian actors and films that took home major prizes at Cannes 2024 he said,”we have two unknown people getting the highest honours. It’s phenomenal. A Delhi girl walked on the red carpet stitching her own dress. The world is open to creativity – it always was, but now India is open to creativity.”

Anupam went on to say that a film will not have an impact if it does not move people's hearts. In addition, he asserted that a strong film's content will make both a large and small movie succeed.“I think it’s the end of fakeness.”

Anupam Kher went on to discuss how stars in the Hindi film industry who don't deserve it are receiving it. In the end, he said, it will be challenging for them to survive in this field. The Vijay 69 actor recollected his grandfather's words, adding that if someone works hard, is sincere, and positive, they may accomplish their goals.

It is their unique quality if less worthy people receive their just desserts, but how long will it last? He claimed that his 43-year career in this field is a result of his hard effort. Over the years, so many less worthy people have come and gone.“Do you remember who was trending on Instagram, or otherwise? I’m sure you don’t remember. Do you remember how many films made 200 crores last year? I think not. But you will remember a film that touched your heart. Less deserving things happen only for a flash of time. Par kab tak viral rahega?” he said.

Meanwhile on the work front, The first-look posters for Vijay 69 have already been unveiled, and the actor is ready to make his screen debut. In addition, he plays a crucial part in Chhota Bheem and the Curse of Damyaan.
