MUMBAI: Today marks the fifth anniversary of Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise, a date that continues to stir deep emotions among his fans, friends, and family.
The actor, who was found dead at his Mumbai residence on 14th June 2020, left behind not only an illustrious body of work but also an unresolved chapter that still haunts the nation.
Initially ruled as a suicide, the case soon turned into one of India’s most intensely followed and widely debated investigations, with the narrative shifting towards suspected foul play.
The matter quickly spiralled into a national sensation, drawing in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)—three of the country’s top investigative agencies.

Despite the magnitude of the case and widespread public interest, the findings of the CBI report, submitted several months ago, are yet to be made public. Sushant's sister recently took to social media, stating that the family has formally appealed to the court to release the report, hoping for closure after years of emotional turmoil and unanswered questions.
Among those paying heartfelt tributes today was actor Karanveer Mehra, who won Bigg Boss Season 18. Known for his deep friendship with Sushant, Karanveer has often spoken about the late actor with immense admiration and love. Marking the solemn occasion, he posted a touching message on social media alongside a series of nostalgic photographs with Sushant.
In a post addressed to his late friend, whom he fondly referred to as Kamini, Karanveer wrote:
“Although this day remains a black day for the rest of my life, this year pinches a bit more.
I am on the road map you set out for me. I wish I could share this with you and make you proud, because when no one believed in me, you did.
I myself had started looking for other career options when you sat me down, broke things down with logic, science and strategy, and guided me forward. The fame, money, and recognition—while I'm grateful—feels somewhat incomplete without you here.”
Karanveer also recalled how Sushant, knowing of his dyslexia, motivated him to read and appreciate poetry. He ended his message with a poignant verse:
“Maine khuda se pucha wo kyun chhodh gaya mujhe,
Uski kya majburi thi...
‘Khuda’ ne kaha,
Na kasoor tera tha,
Na galti uski thi,
Maine ye kahani likhi hi adhuri thi.”
“Looking up to thank you. Always stay happy wherever you are, my Kamini.
From, Kutti.”
The tribute struck a chord with fans across the country, many of whom echoed Karanveer’s sentiments and shared their own messages in remembrance of Sushant.
As the nation remembers a star who shone too briefly, the call for justice remains louder than ever. The void left by Sushant Singh Rajput is still deeply felt, and his legacy continues to inspire countless young dreamers.
One can only hope that in the days to come, the truth will emerge, and a long-overdue sense of closure will be granted to those who loved him most.
