MUMBAI: Teen love has a magic of its own, the butterflies, the blushes, the late-night thoughts. And Prime Video’s fan-favourite show The Summer I Turned Pretty has beautifully captured that essence, season after season. As the show returns with the much-awaited third season, it stirs those nostalgic feelings once again. The latest season takes viewers back to Cousins Beach for one final summer, diving deeper into the emotional journey of Belly and the two brothers who love her, Conrad and Jeremiah (played by Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno, respectively). With Belly finding herself caught between Conrad and Jeremiah once again, The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 explores not just love and longing, but loss, growth, and the messy in-betweens.
Shedding some light on his character Jeremiah’s journey, Gavin shared, “Jeremiah is the optimistic, social butterfly, ray of sunshine in this story. He's definitely the life of the party!! However, when faced with a severe level of grief, the pain forces him and puts him through a test – to see what he's made of. This grief makes him grow in certain ways, and I think the story does a good job at showing the different ways of dealing with his grief and pain, something that everyone is/will experience. He's a good person to have as a friend.”
Casalegno also expressed his contentment with Jeremiah’s final arc in the story, “It was fun, especially on my side of things, seeing how much the character grew throughout the season and how you could really see the maturity in the decisions toward the end of the series.”
The latest installment is led by showrunners Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka, with Han, Kucserka, and Karen Rosenfelt serving as executive producers alongside Paul Lee, Hope Hartman, and Mads Hansen for wiip. A co-production between Amazon MGM Studios and wiip, this coming-of-age romance drama boasts a powerhouse cast featuring Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Jackie Chung, and Rachel Blanchard in pivotal roles. The first two episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 are now streaming, followed by weekly releases every Thursday until September 17, exclusively on Prime Video, in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
