MUMBAI: Actor Aadesh Chaudhary, who was recently seen in the web series Sabse Bada Rupaiya, has steadily made his mark in television and is now branching into web series, shared his thoughts on the evolving landscape of cinema and OTT in a candid conversation. As the lines between theatrical and digital releases continue to blur, Aadesh believes that while OTT has revolutionized viewership, the magic of cinema halls is far from fading.
“As an actor, there’s a different thrill when your film releases in a theatre. Watching your work on the big screen, with that sound, those visuals, and a live audience reacting—it’s a different kind of high,” says Aadesh. “OTT is convenient and offers great reach, but the theatre experience has its own soul.”
When asked what kinds of films still attract the masses to cinema halls, Aadesh points towards emotion and spectacle. “People want either a visual extravaganza or a story that hits them emotionally. Action, strong human drama, and nostalgia-based content have been doing well. If a film promises an experience you can’t get on a small screen, they’ll step out for it.”
For Aadesh, one genre never fails. “Romantic dramas with good music or family entertainers—those are timeless. But these days, thrillers and action flicks with tight narratives and scale are a sure-shot draw. Audiences love a cinematic adrenaline rush.”
With recent successes like Metro and Saiyaara, Aadesh believes the tide is turning. “Absolutely, the magic of the big screen is returning. People want to feel that energy again. These films are proving that if content connects and the cinematic experience is strong, people will flock back.”
Despite the boom of digital platforms, Aadesh is confident cinema halls will never truly lose their appeal. “Yes, OTT is convenient and gives you access at home. But cinema halls are not just about watching a film—they’re about sharing moments, first dates, family outings. That cultural charm won’t go away. The numbers may fluctuate, but the essence will remain.”
