MUMBAI: Madalsa Sharma, who became a household name for her portrayal of Kavya Gandhi in Star Plus’ hit drama Anupamaa, has finally revealed the real reason behind her decision to quit the show.
The actress, who joined the series early on, impressed audiences with her powerful performance as Kavya a character who evolved from positive to negative shades and later found redemption.
Her nuanced acting and screen presence made her one of the standout figures in the long-running family saga.
However, just a month ago, Madalsa bid farewell to the show, leaving fans emotional and eager to see her back on screen.

Her departure came right before Anupamaa underwent a major transformation, with the storyline taking a significant generational leap.
Reflecting on her decision, Madalsa shared in a recent interview, “After four years, it was time for me to move on. The makers were planning a fifteen-year leap, and that’s a long span.
When the show earlier took a two-year leap, I stayed on because the characters didn’t age much. But after fifteen years, everything changes the look, the environment, and the dynamics.”
She went on to add, “Rajan Sir and I mutually decided that it was the right time. I’ve had an incredible journey with Anupamaa, but now I want to explore new avenues and take on fresh challenges.”
There’s no denying that Madalsa’s portrayal of Kavya left a lasting impression on audiences. Her character’s emotional depth and transformation resonated deeply with viewers, making her an integral part of the show’s success.
While the series now focuses on its new generation post-leap, fans continue to miss Madalsa’s presence and are eagerly waiting to see what exciting project she takes up next.
