MUMBAI: Shubhangi Atre, known for her work in shows like Kasturi, Karam Apnaa Apnaa, Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Chidiya Ghar, and currently Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, recently shared her thoughts on the rising mental health concerns in today’s digital world. Speaking to TellyChakkar.com and reacting to reports that over 5.5 lakh ChatGPT users are experiencing mental health challenges, the actress expressed deep worry and compassion.

“It really breaks my heart to know that so many people are struggling silently,” she said. “If someone is reaching out — even to AI — it shows they’re desperate for help and have nowhere else to turn. As a society, we need to be more compassionate and open about these issues. Professional help, love, and genuine human connection can truly make a difference,” she added.

Reflecting on the impact of technology on emotional well-being, Shubhangi shared that the issue doesn’t lie in technology itself, but in how people use it. “Technology was created to make life easier. It has connected the world beautifully, but overuse can leave people lonely and emotionally drained. When everything revolves around screens and likes, we start losing touch with real feelings,” she explained.

Talking about why many people seek emotional support from AI or social media, she pointed out, “People find it easier to open up to something that won’t judge them. Many fear being misunderstood. But AI can never replace real human care. We all need genuine conversations, warmth, and empathy — things technology simply can’t provide.”

As a public figure, she also stresses the importance of balance. “I use social media mostly for work, but I take breaks to maintain my peace of mind. Spending quality time with family and being in nature keeps me grounded,” she shared.
