Zee Café starts an environmental movement Green Turn to contribute in the cause of Global warming. It is long term movement which will have several steps. The first step of this movement is going to be taken on 5th June, World Environment Day. The channel is going to distribute saplings at youth hangouts across the city including ‘Candies’, ‘Pot Pourri’, ‘The Crepe Station’ Outlets in Juhu and Pali Hill, ‘Joss’, ‘Monza’ at Phoenix Mills and ‘Chopstix’ (Churchgate) amongst others. The movement is aimed at the awakening of youth for the issue of Global warming. The Green Turn is expected to create consciousness on environment problems in the minds of today’s urban youth that Zee Café entertains and connects with. The saplings are going to be kept at the counters as well as distributed personally at the above mentioned places from 1.00 pm to 8.00 pm. The people who take the saplings home will have to take an oath on taking its care and growing it. The oath reads - “I, from this day forward, promise to care for this sapling, to water it and protect it from all harm. I am taking a green turn. This is my contribution for a greener earth.” The initiative this channel is taking for the cause of environment seems to be well thought and structured. They are wishing that this effort works in the right direction and makes some bit of a difference to the cause. Adding excitement to the launch of the initiative, the channel has managed to rope in the cast and crew of the forthcoming Riteish Deshmukh-Ayesha Takia starrer De Taali to take the Green Turn and support their movement. So don’t be surprised if you see Ritesh and Ayesha hugging trees rather than dancing around them. This movement will be promoted on air through endorsements by celebrities who support the cause, on road through break bumpers and online through ‘green’ micro site on the Zee Café Home page. Apart from endorsements by celebrities, other aspects of the movement are also going to be aired in between the breaks. We wish the channel to succeed in their mission and hope that our other Indian channels too take initiatives in the cause of environment.
