I don’t think much about what went wrong with Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara- Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar is back in action with his new movie ‘Boss’ this time. And in case you thought the debacle of his last offering ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara’ affected him, then you are wrong. Akshay thinks and walks like a Boss and doesn’t really give two hoots about his flops. When we asked him on what he felt went wrong with Ekta’s Once upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara, our Khiladi Kumar nodded his head vigorously accepting the fact that the movie was not a hit and then proceeded to respond with a laidback demeanor- a trademark style that he is famous for. “What went wrong with it? I don’t think much about it. My movie releases on Friday, by Saturday I come to know if it’s picking well or not. If it is not, I feel bad till Sunday. Then by 10.30 – 11pm on Sunday, I go to sleep. On Monday morning, I am completely switched off from it and I am in another world, another film. This has been my habit.” Akshay also accepted that in movie business sometimes films don’t work as well as you expect them to do. “But it’s not the end of the game,” stressed Akshay before adding, “it’s just the beginning.” It’s a well-known fact today that after the release of Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara, relations between Ekta and Imran Khan had soured to a large extent. When asked if a flop affects Akshay’s relation with his producer, Akshay shot back saying one would be a fool to distance themselves from his producer just because of a flop. “I share an excellent rapport with Ekta Kapoor,” revealed Akshay. As of now, Akshay’s whole and sole attention belongs to his baby ‘Boss.’ Talking fondly about it, Akshay told us that the real reason behind choosing to remake Malayalam movie ‘Pokkiri Raja’ as ‘Boss’ was because it showcased a father and his son’s relation. “It’s the father-son story that touched me the most. I was extremely close to my father. If you see my filmography, I have done movies like Waqt, Ek Rishtaa which were based on the ‘father-son’ relationship. A lot of films are made on mothers and sons but sadly the father is always taken for granted. No one makes a movie on him. So this is my way of giving back to all the respected fathers.” Well, looking at the way ‘Boss’ has been shaping up, indications are that it will be a sleeper hit like Rowdy Rathore. The movie which also stars Shiv Pandit and Aditi Rao Hydari is set to release on 16 October (2013).
