This somehow seemed to be on the cards. Months back Tellychakkar.com reported about Nikita Sharma aka Antara being replaced in Life OK show Do Dil Ek Jaan (Produced by Saurabh Tewary’s Nautanki Telefilms) over tantrum issues.
Now a certain sections of the media has reported that not only Nikita, but the other lead in the show Raghu (played by Ayaz Ahmed), has also been shown the door.
We have learnt that in an attempt to revive the show’s paltry ratings (1494 TVTS), the channel and production house have decided to take a leap of 20 years.
A source says the present generation may end with Raghu and Antara being killed and their children (new casting in process) gaining prominence in the storyline. This transition will set in with the leads getting kidnapped.
Ayaz and Nikita’s stints in the show will end. Most other actors of the show are also quitting, as per sources, sans Akshay Dogra and Darpan Srivastav. Apparently, the former has been given a very juicy role.
When Tellychakkar buzzed Nikita, she confirmed the development saying, “My shooting will wrap up tomorrow. However the leap will only be telecast a month later as we have a huge bank of episodes.”
Chatting further, Nikita said that she was not asked to leave but she quit as she did want to age on screen. “I had a great experience and learnt a lot from this project. I thank my producers for giving me this chance.”
When asked to comment on the dismal ratings, Nikita shared, “I can only put in my best. There are several others factors which contribute as well like the story and how the public reacts to it. Even the tough 9 pm time slot might have played a role in the lower numbers.”
We wish her luck in her future endeavours.
Next we called up Ayaz and he also confirmed his exit and said, “I am happy, actually mixed feelings. But then it is good in a way.”
However when we spoke to producer Saurabh Tewari he only accepted about the leap segment but mentioned that “no decision has been taken on the casting yet”.
Explaining the reasons for the leap he said, “It is needed to change the story track and explore newer territories.” He also accepted that, “one of the main reasons for the leap was that the present story has not been getting good numbers.”
Before ending this article let’s hear what another source of ours had to say: “In a daily soap scenario scripts keep changing each passing hour. You never know, Ayaz and Nikita might stay on. The kidnapping part will see the absence of both the leads and the subsequent public reaction might lead to further concrete decisions”
Well, as of now it seems one has to wave goodbye to Ayaz and Nikita from Do Dil Ek Jaan!!!
