Happy to share the National Award with Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu: Rajkummar Rao

Winning a National award at the age of 29 is no mean achievement and especially when you are still a newcomer. Rajkummar Rao, understandably is extremely elated after having bagged the country's top acting honours. Talking to Tellychakkar.com, Rajkummar said that the entire announcement came in as a surprise. “I am a glad that it came as a surprise. Of course, I wanted the award, who doesn't want to win a National Award. But I was not really expecting to win it. So it came as a surprise to me,” said a beaming Rajkummar. Even though compliments have been pouring in, Rajkummar is more delighted about the fact that people around him are happy for his achievements. “What makes me feel happy is that everyone is equally happy with me. So there is a lot of happiness around,” exclaimed Rajkummar. Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu will also be sharing the honours with Rajkummar. But that doesn’t dim Rajkummar’s joy even one bit. Clarifying that there was no wish of winning the award alone, Rajkummar said, “I am equally happy that Suraj won. In fact, whoever deserving should win.” While Rajkummar is basking in national glory, his Queen co-star Kangana Ranaut recently announced her decision to stay away from all award ceremonies. When asked if she took the right decision especially after Queen, Rajkummar said, “Kangana is an independent individual and she has the right to take her own decision in whatever she wants to do in life. But I am quite sure she will be a strong contender for all awards next season. Finally, not to receive awards is her decision and I respect her for that.” As the day to receive the National Awards from the President of India fast approaches, Rajkummar has a new albeit happy problem in hand – to choose the appropriate dress for the grand occasion. When quizzed about what he would be wearing, Rajkummar said, “Oh! I haven’t decided yet. I have still not got the chance to sit back and enjoy the moment. So I will think about what to wear later.” Well, we are sure you will sparkle in whatever you wear, Rajkummar.
