MUMBAI: On Thursday, actress Lakshmi Gopalaswamy shared on Instagram the sad news of her mother Uma Gopalaswamy's passing. The oldest child of Gopalaswamy and Uma Gopalaswamy is Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, who is from a Kannada family. She was married to Anujan Arjun.
She shared an emotional caption with an old photo of Uma Gopalaswamy. It reads, “With deep grief, we have to let you all know that we lost our mother today. She will remain in our residence till 3:15 PM followed by the rituals. She meant everything to us.”

Lakshmi Gopalaswamy made her debut in the Malayalam cinema business with the film Arayannangalude Veedu alongside Mammootty. She worked in commercial work before beginning her acting career. Sadly, her mother died away recently while she was getting ready for Navratri.
Lakshmi recalled her childhood memories in an interview, “As a child, I would spontaneously create my dance moves when I heard music. I eventually asked my parents to enrol me in a dance class, but they might have initially considered it a passing interest.”
Lakshmi went to The Valley School, a large 100-acre campus surrounded by nature and streams. She expressed, “We had a small number of students, and the school encouraged us to be curious and question the world around us.”
In Malayalam and Kannada films, the actress had the honor of appearing onscreen alongside famous actors like Mammootty, Jayaram, Suresh Gopi, and Mohanlal. She talks about her interaction with Vishnuvardhan and says, “Vishnuji found my honesty charming and amusing. He often encouraged me to voice my thoughts. He was a deeply spiritual person, and I have yet to meet someone as cultured. He had a profound affection for humanity.”
In 2000, Lakshmi made her acting debut in the Malayalam film Arayannangalude Veedu, for which she was nominated for the Kerala State Film Award for the second-best actress. She appeared in several well-liked movies throughout her career, including Paradesi, Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, Mampazhakkalam, Kanaka Simhasanam, and Keerthi Chakra, to mention a few.
