MUMBAI: Actor Hitanshu Jinsi, who will soon be seen in Rahul Kumar Tewary’s Jagadhatri alongside Farman Haider, Sonakshi Batra and Sayantani Ghosh, says that returning to a familiar team feels like revisiting old friendships. Having last played a completely contrasting role in Ram Bhavan, he shares that his new character is “larger than life” and comes with an entirely different look.
Speaking about where his love for performing began, Hitanshu exclusively told TellyChakkar, “I grew up watching Shaktimaan, Shaka Laka Boom Boom, Alif Laila, Teletubbies, and Aladdin. Back then, TV felt magical — simple stories, big imagination. I think that’s where my love for performance began.”

He believes that television has evolved, but not at the pace today’s audience demands. “Television has changed a lot, but not fast enough. OTT and films have raised the bar in writing, direction, and performance. TV still has a loyal audience, but the storytelling needs to evolve to keep them engaged.”
Despite the rise of digital platforms, Hitanshu still finds a unique charm in television. “TV reaches places where OTT doesn’t. It’s immediate, and it gives actors a daily connection with the audience. But to stay relevant, it has to take more creative risks — not rely on the same tried-and-tested formulas.”
According to him, the emotional impact of daily soaps has shifted over time. “Not like before. Viewers have options now and expect better content. Many shows wrap up within months because the stories feel repetitive. Only a few manage to stand out and make a real impact.”
If given the chance to bring something back, he knows exactly what it would be. “I’d bring back the early 2000s era — when TV had originality and innocence. Shows had a unique identity back then. I’d love to see that kind of freshness return, whether on TV, OTT, or the big screen.”
With Jagadhatri just beginning, Hitanshu says it’s too early to predict how the audience will respond, but he remains hopeful. For now, his focus is on evolving, experimenting, and enjoying his craft with gratitude every single day.
