Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge

Zee TV’s music reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Mega Challenge has reached its final leg and has got its one of the two finalists. This weekend the battle was between Maharashtra and Gujarat and the latter lost out in the competition thereby dashing its hopes to stay in the competition. Maharashtra and Gujarat are led by singer Vaishali Mhade and Parthiv Gohil respectively.

Debojit, the singing sensation from Assam has been enjoying the adulation coming his way since he has won the <em>Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge</em> crown on 24 February 2006. But the house in Mumbai that was promised to the winner from the stage during the finale hasn't yet materialised. The singer who has been a struggler in the metropolis, with his devoted wife also moving base with him for four years, is still waiting patiently to move into the new house.

It no longer matters whether you win or lose! As far as Zee's <em>Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge</em> is concerned, if you participate and you are talented, this is your ticket to fame. The show has seen many contentents get playback opportunities even as participants. Bollywood bigwigs have thrown their weight behind the contestants, even as the show nears its end in the coming weeks. Debojit Saha, the winner of <em>Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge </em> is not just basking in the glory of his first album; in fact the singer has decided to move ahead in life. Debojit, who has returned from stage shows in US and Canada is all set to launch a regional (Assamese) album which will have eight songs in all.

It was an interesting coincidence that Zee decided to unveil its final ten contestants of <em>Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge</em>, the day the <em>Fame Jodi</em> was to be announced by Sony! But taking no points away from the awesome ten, this was an evening that will be remembered by the media (at the press conference held at Hilton Hotel in suburban Mumbai) for a long time to come.

This is a trend that has taken the television industry by storm. After Sony's <em>Indian Idol</em> and <em>Fame Gurukul</em>, Zee's <em>Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge</em>, this show, to be launched in September, will be another music based show anchored by Bappi Lahiri of Disco Dancer fame!

<em>Sa Re Ga Ma Pa challenge</em> seems to be a competition that is attracting participants from as far as London, UK. Meet Swananda, who has flown all the way from London to be part of the <em>SRGMP Challenge</em>. "My husband is in London, and he saw the advertisement and then I went for the auditions. When I was selected, I came to Mumbai," says this 21-year old housewife. Swananda, who has been chosen in the Jatin-Lalit gharana is very happy to be with her mentors and says that it is her dream to sing in front of them.
