Onam is the New Year of Keralites. As Onam falls on the 29 of this month (August), I felt it would be appropriate to take Mallu (for the uninitiated Mallu is slang for a Keralite) and my dear friend Suresh Menon, the funny radio jockey and laughter king of television and movies for the rest of you, for a gastronomic outing. The venue was fixed for lunch at Sankalp restaurant in Chembur.

Mimicry forms a substantial part of Indian humour. Many of our actors have shot to fame by impersonating noted celebrities. After bringing stand-up comedy to the fore, Star One is now set to revive mimicry. Violet Pictures Company, makers of the The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, have joined hands with Fox Television to produce a new show Pehchaan Kaun that will provide a platform for mimicry artistes to showcase their talent.
