Star's flight Lt Monika is now Zee's 'Mamta'

Come this August, Flight lieutenant Monika in Star Plus' long running show, <em>Saara Akash</em>, will play Mamta in Shobhna Desai's new show on Zee, <em>Mamta</em>. Sai Deodhar, who played a flight Lt in <em>Saara Akash</em>, will be seen in a new avtar on Zee. She has played a determined journalist in Star One's <em>Siddhanth</em>, and now she is all set to show her stuff in Mamta. Sai, who has also signed Contiloe's <em>Le Jayenge Le Jayenge</em>, a romantic comedy, is known for her agressive no nonsense roles. Mamta, is an effort to reinvent herself as a viillage belle.

Harsh Chhaya goes to court

You knew him as Dr Manas in Zee's <em>Astitva - Ek Prem Kahani</em>. Harsh Chhaya was eased out of the script when the Ajai Sinha creation leapt 18 years, but now makes a comeback as an aggrieved father taking on the authorities in Star One's <em>Siddhanth</em>.

Nigaar Khan to do a cameo

Nigaar Khan after doing a negative in Zee's <em>Lipstic</em>, ( where she was the central character) is all set to check in at Star One's premier hotel, Hotel Kingston, on 23 June. She is all ready to make a mark in tellydom with more positive roles. Nigaar seems quite excited about this role. "In the show i get ready to get married but we are not interested in getting married the traditional way. It is going to be a different kind of a role for me, " says this dusky beauty.

Rohit and Shveta get married secretly!

Rohit and Shveta who have been seeing each other for quite some time, recently got married secretly, despite severe opposition from their families. Isn't that shocking news. Certainly not for Manasi Joshi Roy, who is the actors real life better half. Rohit, who plays Karan in Manish Goswami's <em>Sarrkaar-Rishton ki Ankahi Kahani</em>, got marrried to his girlfriend, Shveta (Shveta Salve) in the Zee show.

Whirlpool mommy makes acting debut

Remember the lively lass who twirled her fingers, rolled her eyes and worked <em>Mummy ka Magic chalega kya</em>? In the Whirlpool ads before Ajay Devgan and Kajol took over? Amrita Saluja, the pretty ex-Whirlpool model, will now play estranged wife to television's hearthrob Rajeev Khandelwal in Ketan Mehta's forthcoming opus on Zee, <em>Time Bomb</em>. The 24 episode series is a gripping saga that traverses the lives of several characters over just 24 hours. Amrita and Rajeev, (who sports a fresh attitude and a macho stubble) share just 10 to 15 scenes in the entire series.

Gurdeep in a new avatar!

Four hours of waiting on the sets of <em>Sinndoor...</em> was worth it! When Gurdeep emerged in her bright pink outfit, with chura (knife) in hand...all hell broke loose! Zee's <em>Sinndoor, Tere Naam Ka</em>, will see a major twist on 29 June. Its protagonist, played by Gurdeep Kohli will be seen in a double role --- as Vedika, the bahu of the Raizada family and as a dancer, Lali.

"'Paalkhi' is special"- Karishma Tanna and Abhay Vakil

The leads in Zee's <em>Paalkhi</em> seem to have an uncanny resemblance to one another as far as their career graphs are concerned. Both Abhay and Karishma have played leads in Balaji's Kaarthika and Koi Dil Mein Hain respectively. Both actors are part of other Balaji shows as well --- Abhay plays Parth in <em>Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii</em> and Karishma plays Indu in <em>Kyunki</em>... With Paalkhi these young actors are trying to foray into unknown territory.

Choti says no to 'Hum Paanch'

Zee's popular serial <em>Hum Pannch</em> is set to make a comeback with new epsiodes but Choti aka Priyanka Mehra has refused to act in it. "I was young when <em>Hum Paanch</em> first happened. Now that I have grown up, I want to play a role that suits my age," she laments. Priyanka who tried her hand at acting, went on to write for a magazine called Seventeen and now she has joined her uncle Rajeev Mehra to assist him in his home production <em>LOC</em> on Star Plus.

Mihir crosses Sahara threshold

Mihir Misra is all smiles. This handsome actor who flashes one of the cutest smiles on the telly will make a comeback of sorts! Mihir who was unceremoniously dumped from Zee's <em>Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa</em> not so long ago, has bagged a lead role in a Sahara One soap. Says a delighted Mihir, "My character is something that I have not played before. It is grey as it has shades of positive and negative". The female lead has not been decided as yet, but the shoot is expected to begin by next week. The soap slotted for afternoon will go on air by June end.
