Get the axe: TV shows that need to go off air immediately

TV shows that need to go off air immediately
They say, ‘change’ comes as a blessing in disguise!! It helps break the monotony caused by a situation or an event, and helps bring some renewal… We are here to talk about the monotony suffered by viewers, after watching the same mundane tracks in never-ending TV programs. It is always nice to see a television show gain a lot of attention, publicity and viewers interest. But, there is something called the ‘prime’ for every show, exceeding which the story line tends to stretch beyond limitations, causing a disinterest. They say, it is always better for a popular TV show to end when the viewers want ‘more’ of it!! However, there are quite a lot of shows currently on air today which have crossed the limit of viewing tolerance. The best solution in this case would be to end the show, and start with something fresh. Here, Tellychakkar.com, is presenting a list of ongoing TV shows that should get the axe immediately. If you agree, then hit the recommend and share button, if not share your views in the comment section below. FIR– A situational comedy airing on SAB TV wherein the protagonist Kavita Kaushik happens to be a Haryanvi police officer by name Chandramukhi Chautala. The lady’s name in itself epitomizes strength, valour, sincerity and of course a high-toned authoritative dialogue delivery. The show produced by Edit II Productions has had a dream run from 31 July, 2006.There would be no other comedy character as powerful as Chandramukhi, with Kavita doing a marvellous job. The show simply rests on Kavita’s shoulders, and this was very evident with the dip in popularity and numbers when the lady bowed out of the show to get a creative breather. The best way for the maker to get things to normalcy then was to roll over the story changes made, and get back Kavita to helm the show. It’s been a great run indeed. Having said this, guess the monotonous ways of Chautala dealing with her criminals have now caught the eyes of viewers. The show can end on a nice note!! Uttaran – FilmFarm India’s very unique presentation on Colors, with a concept never seen before!! This is how this successful show started. The manner in which the tale of the two girls, Ichcha and Tapasya was told was a visual treat. The kids’ tale enthralled one and all with its gripping storyline and power-packed performances. The success story kick-started by the kid actors Sparsh Khanchandani and Ishita Panchal was carried forward by Tina Dutta and Rashami Desai post the generation leap. The two actors turned into stars overnight, and their story took to another level with the passage of time. The show which has had its own share of controversies, in spite of being popular has always made headlines, attracting the media every now and then. The show which started on 1 December 2008 is now in its winding-up stage in terms of storyline. Without stretching it like an elastic, it would be nice to see the show ending on a high note in the near future. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai – This show, coming from the stables of Director’s Kut on Star Plus started with simplicity and realistic storytelling being its forte. The manner in which a boy and a girl find love post marriage and the day-to-day situations that only enhanced their love towards each other was indeed a pleasant viewing. The lead actors Karan Mehra and Hina Khan might have had problems sharing a healthy relationship off the screen, but their beautiful on-screen chemistry and the innocence in their love were captured very well by the maker. Yeh Rishta happens to be a show which has crossed a lot of milestones, the recent one being the completion of 1400 episodes. Wow!! The show which has had a dream run from 12 January 2009 has seen it all; success, fanfare and rewards in the form of awards have all come its way. Every good thing has to come to an end, and we do hope Yeh Rishta bids adieu soon. Pavitra Rishta – Yet another successful show from Balaji Telefilms airing on Zee TV, which has become a trendsetter of sorts from the time it started on 1 June, 2009. Again, a simple middle-class story of a Maharashtrian household shown with all dedication and sincerity. The love story of Manav (Sushant Singh Rajput) and Archana (Ankita Lokhande) sparked off a great chemistry between the lead actors. Adored, loved and pampered for their sizzling onscreen chemistry, Sushant and Archana soon fell in love in real life too. Such was the impact their onscreen love story generated. The show had its own ups and downs, and the biggest change came with Hiten Tejwani stepping into the shoes of Sushant. However, the senior actor carried on the legacy of the character Manav in his own way. Then came the phase wherein Rithvik Dhanjani and Asha Negi along with quite a few other younger generation actors took over and stole the limelight. The show has now seen many generation leaps, with the story presently focussing on the love story of Karan Mehra and the senior Ankita’s granddaughter, again essayed by Ankita Lokhande. The show has lost its sparkle, and has become a worn-out branch of an over-developed tree. High time the maker understood this, and ended the show on an elegant note. Sasural Simar Ka – The simple tale of two sisters Simar and Roli, and the manner in which their destiny gets them married into the same house. Produced by Rashmi Sharma Productions and airing on Colors, the show started way back on 25 April, 2011 and has had a very good run. Dipika Samson and Avika Gor turned household names, and the Bharadwaj family as one of the successful ensemble cast in today’s times. After viewing quite a lot of interesting plots and sub-plots, Sasural Simar Ka has now reached a stage wherein there is nothing new to achieve. Rather than serving the viewers with old wine in a new bottle, the makers can decide to end the tale on a happy and convincing note. Bade Achhe Lagte Hain – The ‘baap’ of all shows in terms of its concept, started on 30 May 2011 on Sony Entertainment Television (Balaji Telefilms) and had a dream run with the protagonists Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar creating an example for middle-aged love to blossom. The hit pair became a rage in no time, and their nok-jhok followed by breezy romance became a talk of the town, so much so that viewers liked the very presence of the two actors sharing screen space. After many a leaps and progress in story line, Ram and Sakshi no more have the age to carry forward their romance. Also the love story of the younger generation has been appreciated, but has not become an overnight success story. Guess the time is right now for Ekta Kapoor’s one of the best renditions when it comes to love tales to end on a graceful note. Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev – The hugest of mythological shows in present time, the show has been having a good run from 18 December 2011. Produced by Triangle Films Company (Life OK), this mythological created waves in the industry for its crafty and unique presentation and power-packed performance value. Mohit Raina who essays the role of Mahadev is today an icon, courtesy his phenomenal portrayal. After traversing through various interesting, inquisitive and awareness creating plots, the maker is left with no major story to keep the popularity going. The sudden dip in ratings and the lesser rate of success that the recent tracks have seen clearly indicates that the viewers have had enough of this otherwise beautiful presentation. Guess this is another show that needs to be shown its door before the magic fades away. We respect the sentiments of each and every maker here for presenting viewers with such wonderful long-running concepts. Very hard to digest, but these are certainly reasons enough for their closure!!!
