Sidekicks to STARS: Journey of popular TV actors

Sidekicks to STARS: Journey of popular TV actors

Though most television celebs dream of making it big in the industry, not everyone gets the chance of tasting super success. There are a few who did not land meaty roles at the first go, but were noticed and eventually grabbed eyeballs with their talent.  Their journey from being sidekicks to stars of the small screen is inspiring…take a look:

Saurabh Raaj Jain:

Much before becoming the ultimate Krishna of the small screen, Saurabh played sidekicks in many shows including Remix, Kasamh Se and Parichay. Best known for his role as Aman, no one even thought that the thin, cute, studious guy of Maurya High would turn out to be one the biggest mythological stars of TV.

Shakti Arora:

Every girl surely has had a soft corner for Dr. Onir of Pavitra Rishta for his caring nature. Post many a cameo appearances, Shakti finally bagged the lead role in Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi. As they say, the rest is history.

Kunal Karan Kapoor:

He was a part of two popular youth-based shows of early 2000, Remix and Left Right Left. Though everyone appreciated his presence in the soaps, he never ruled the limelight. Only after Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, did Kunal became a household name.

Drashti Dhami:

This cute, bubbly girl is now ruling our hearts and the industry. She might have been known as Dr. Muskan Chaddha of Dill Mill Gayye, which helped her grab eyeballs. But her real success story started with Geet. Of course, after that there was no turning back for Drashti.

Harshad Chopda:

Left Right Left gave the industry many good looking men. Harshad is one of them. Like Kunal, he landed a meaty role in Balaji Telefilms’ Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil.

Sushant Singh Rajput:

When Sushant decided to essay Harshad Chopda’s brother in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, viewers had no idea that history would repeat itself once again. Like Harshad, Sushant also proved to be a star in his next big ticket Pavitra Rishta, which not only gained him accolades on small screen, but also in Bollywood.

Krystle D’souza:

KDMHMD perhaps had a bunch of young talented faces. Sushant was not the only actor to play a side role in the daily, to shine on later. Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai made Krystle one of the most popular female actors of the small screen.

Gautam Gulati:

Kasamh Se, Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani, Diya Aur Baati Hum are just some of the soaps where Gautam has made bit roles. But it was Bigg Boss that made him the hottest sensation of the year. Right after Bigg Boss, even Bollywood welcomed him with arms wide open.

Karan Patel:

He was a regular in Balaji Telefilms’ show, but the role that made us sit up and take notice was of Vigyat in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. He is now ruling the TV scene with his acting chops and intense charisma.

Jennifer Winget:

Many might recall our beloved Jenny as Aashka Goradia’s bestie Simran in Kkusum. From bubbly, chirpy Simran to Dr. Riddhima Gupta in Dill Mill Gayye was a stunning transformation.
