#WorldBookDay: TV celebs and their LOVE for READING

‘There is no friend as loyal as a book’ is well said by famous author Ernest Hemingway.

Reading a book is an important habit that has to be developed. The earlier you start the better you become. Reading helps to expose yourself to new things and boosts your imagination and creativity.

On the World Book Day we got in touch with few TV celebs who loves reading books.

Raj Singh Arora

It is well said by Marcus Tullius Cicero ‘A room without book is like a body without soul’. The habit of reading has been passed on by my father. However, when young I never used to read and preferred watching movies. I started developing my interest when I was 18. My favourite authors are Saadat Hasan Monto, Charles Bukowski and Fyodor Dostoevsky. I prefer reading literature, fiction and nonfiction both. I don’t prefer reading Chetan Bhagat as I think he is over rated. I would advice all to read books as it’s important for thought building. If not a book then at least read a newspaper.

Sukirti Kandpal

I love reading books. In fact I have so many books at home that my mom has asked me not to purchase anymore. I feel books give a lot of knowledge and allow us to think from different perspectives. My all time favourite books are What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey and The Power of your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy. I like to read from fiction to philosophical all of them. The last book I finished reading was Adultery by Paulo Coelho.

Kunal Karan Kapoor

I am certain what I like more, to read or the company of a book. Often I step out for dinner alone but a book by my side and I carry with myself a world other than my own, unseen and secret amongst the clanging of spoons and forks on plates. There’s a book in every room in my house even the washroom. It’s not just reading but solace in the presence of pages. My favourite author is the late Mr. Michael Crichton and I am currently reading Pablo Neruda’s The Heights of Macchu Picchu and finishing RK Narayan’s The Dark Room which was gifted by a fan Ranjita. Besides I don’t have a favourite genre but anything I can lay my hands on.

Paridhi Sharma

Reading is holistic. It gives exposure, knowledge and makes you a better observer. Reading books is as important as eating and drinking for me. I prefer both fiction and nonfiction books. My more likable authors are Nicholas Sparks, Shivaji Sawant and I also loved reading the biographies of Narendra Modi and Manmohan Singh. My favourite books are Mrityunjay and A walk to remember.

Digangana Suryavanshi

I wrote a novel, Nixie the Mermaid and the Power of Love when I was 15 years young. My interest in reading and writing has been developed since my childhood. I like to write fantasy, love stories and inspirational books and for reading I prefer all types of genres. In fact it takes couple of hours for me to finish reading a book. I think reading is very important as it improves your concentration, ignites your thoughts, enhances your vocabulary and gives you different dimensions.
