Karanvir Bohra

Karanvir Bohra has an inexhaustible supply of energy. It’s always a delight to watch him on-screen.

Before Naagin 2, Karanvir has been part of many hit TV shows namely Just Mohabbat, Shararat, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Saubhagyavati Bhava, Qubool Hai and the list goes on.

Along with a smashing career, Karanvir is riding high on the personal front. The happily married man was recently blessed with twin girls with wife Teejay Sidhu.

In a chat with us, Karanvir spoke about his new project Naagin 2, his journey on small screen, co-stars and more.

How does it feel to be back to fiction space?

Well, somehow I feel that I love fiction. It’s had been a year since I did a fiction show. I was looking out for a right script. I think the wait has truly been worth. I am glad to be part of Naagin 2. I was supposed to be part of the original season too, but due to other commitments I couldn’t be part of it.

Too many females in the show, are you spoilt for choice?

I am spoilt but lucky for choice. There are beautiful faces in the show. I know all of them since a long time. When we met, we had lot of fun and did not need time to break the ice.

Your take on replacement?

I don’t believe in replacement and I have rejected many replacement offers. I refuse to do replacement roles because an actor imprints himself in a role and to replace it is unfair to the audience and the character. I have realized that screenplay of my work has always been Season 2. It started with Just Mohabbat, Kyunki season 2, Kasauti season 2, Kkusum season 2, Qubool Hai season 2 and now Naagin season 2. All the shows have been fantastic and have had a great run.

What made you choose Naagin 2?

My answer is Ekta Kapoor. Ekta magic works on TV. She is gifted and only she knows how she does things so brilliantly. All her shows are phenomenal and they do fantastic. Nobody knew that Naagin will be a hit but she did it with conviction. So the bottom line is whatever you do, do it with conviction and believe that it will work.

How is the role in Naagin 2 different from the rest?

I have played roles which are subtle, obsessive, and passionate, but this is an out and out lover boy. It is little over the top, so I thought to say a yes.

As Naagin 1 was a big hit, did you ever feel pressurized to take Season 2 to that level?

As I said my life is about Sseason2 so I take this up as a challenge. I love challenges as it makes you smarter and alert.

After Arjun’s stint in Naagin, do you think audience will accept you with Mouni in Season 2?

Well, this is not a replacement. Arjun did a good job. I agree that people do get attached to the roles but as and when shows keep moving ahead they will get used to it. I hope to carve my own niche in the show.

Did you think your character may get over shadowed as the show is all about Naagin?

It’s great to be part of such a phenomenal brand whether you are a shadow or the main stream character. I started my career with theatre where I played a tree. I was constantly moving myself in the play so that people may notice me. You have to make space for yourself in whatever you do.

Things that bother you the most?

The one thing that I am very particular about is my clothes. You give me pages full of dialogues I wouldn’t mind but I can’t compromise with my clothes. I need to know what I am wearing and how I am looking.

Have you ever encountered a snake in real life?

I love snakes. During Khatron Ke Khiladi there were lot of snakes on my body and I enjoy slithery things.

How do you see your journey in the TV?

I have completed 16 years in the TV industry and by God’s grace, the journey has been fruitful. Not movies, but TV is my space. I am now in a position where I get to choose my roles that I wish to play. I keep my fingers crossed that I am always showered with the same love and appreciation.

Keep up the good work, Karanvir!
