Be it Piya Ka Ghar, CID, Amanat, Kora Kagaz, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii……telly actress Smita Bansal has always come across as an endearing character by the sheer dint of her dramatics. She's currently displaying her histrionics in Sony's Jeete Hain Jiske Liye (which will be going off air soon) and Star's Viraasat. In a t?te-?-t?te with Prashant Golecha, this lady with a radiant smile gets talking about her professional and personal life. "I am very upset with Jeete Hain… going off air" I am not very shocked but it's definitely very upsetting. I had a lot of expectations from the leap in Jeete Hain....as my character was also shaping up very well. I will miss my co-stars for sure as it was a very amiable atmosphere on the sets. "Viraasat is a story about characters" I had previously worked with the Chopras in Aurat. In Viraasat I play Amarr Upadhya's wife Gargi who is a housewife, yet a self-made woman who doesn't shy away from calling `a spade a spade'. The best part about this daily is that it's a story about characters and not just the main leads. "Henceforth, I don't want to play a mom" In SAB's Twinkle Beauty Parlour, I was a mother to a 16 year old, but it didn't work. Yes, in Viraasat too I am mom but it's only to a six-year-old girl. It's just that playing the same role now means adding more streaks after a few more years. And I don't want to do that. "I need time for family and friends" I have my own set of priorities. I can't work 30 days a month. I'm scared of increasing my commitments. My daughter Stasha is just three and a half year old and she needs me. I can manage two daily shows only because they don't require too many dates. "Looking glam isn't vital" TV is one medium which reaches out to almost every household. The simpler the look, the better it is, and that is what masses identify with. "I love theatre too" Apart from television, theatre is something that I enjoy. The virtue of this medium is that I get instant response from my audience about my acting prowess and the excitement level is different. But the amount of fame you receive from the small screen is unparalleled. "I am not very sure about films" I am not very ambitious as far as the film projects go. Also, I really don't know anyone from that industry. I don't have a godfather or godmother. If there's anything worthwhile that comes my way, I will consider it.
