I feel being romantic is secondary, but giving time and respect is more important: Abeer Singh Godhwani

MUMBAI: Karan Goddwani, who has changed his name to Abeer Singh Godhwani, is known for his roles in shows like Jugni Chali Jalandhar, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, and Jeannie Aur Juju amongst others. The actor recently entered Colors' Naagin 6.

Abeer got married to his long-time girlfriend Tanya Singh in November last year.

In a chat with TellyChakkar Abeer spoke about his married life, television actors being underpaid, and more…

How's your experience of marriage been? “It's been great because my whole family is here, so we have mixed up quite well. My in-laws are also very sweet.”

How are you as a husband? “I think my wife can answer that better. But yes, I have to be romantic, because otherwise, she will complain about it. I try to give time to the people I love because time is a luxury, so I always give time to my wife. I feel being romantic is secondary, but giving time and respect is more important.”

Do you think it's important for an actor to have a back-up plan? “Definitely! I feel not just actors, but every artist should have a back-up because they aren't always appreciated. Moreover, if you want to take a break, you should have something to fall back onto. You have to think about your family because this life is unpredictable. You need a sort of security in life.”

Do you think television actors are being under paid despite longer working hours? “Yes, especially during the pandemic, it was very crucial. But an actor works on lower wages because of the role and the necessity. I think a producer tries to balance out things from his point of view. Actors are underpaid due to their helplessness with respect to the character, production, or the shoot location.”
