Shambhavi Sharma
Shambhavi Sharma who debuted as a reality show contestant on Roadies will now be seen as Ginny in Endemol’s new show Chajje Chajje Ka Pyaar. The actress will be seen in a completely new avatar in the show. TellyChakkar caught up with her to know about this shift to fiction shows and more. How did you bag the show? Well, Endemol called me and I auditioned for it and I got selected. Were you keen on TV? I never wanted to do TV but this time I wanted to do something different and I wanted to act. I have been a VJ, done a reality show and now the show. Tell us something about your character? Ginny is a very sorted girl and she is bubbly, loves to have fun. She knows she has a lot of responsibility. She is the darling of the family. Your take on your first fiction show? It feels great to be a part of the show because I couldn’t have got anything better than this. It’s a different role and this is very me. She sits and stands like me and am from Delhi so I can get the flavour very easily. What kept you busy post Roadies? I was pursuing my studies in law third year via correspondence. How has been the journey from Roadies to Chajje Chajje Ka Pyaar? Its been great. Roadies was different, a youth show. Oldies hated it and then I decided that I should be a part of the show that everybody likes and so this show which am sure everybody will like. Is the real Shambhavi the one we saw in Roadies? I am more close to Ginny. Roadies was a reality show, a little scripted, 13 contestants together, tasks and biking but here it comes out naturally. You don’t have to pretend but just be the character given to you and I am very much like Ginny. How is your chemistry with Manish? It’s good. He is a good responsible actor. We are debutants and get to learn from each other. Sometimes we are competitors and try to out beat each other. What do you think is the USP of the show? The USP is the Chajja. Chajja is the chat (rooftop) where you stay, fight, love. Two families that have been residing there for a long time now. The father has let her daughter stay with this guy without being strict. The family trusts each other a lot. Was Roadies a step towards acting? Never! I never thought about it. But now a lot of people are telling me that I am good and since I am a part of such a huge cast with veterans like Virendraji and Kiran Kumarji I will slowly learn and improve. Roadies gave you a different image and now you are playing a complete contrast, will audiences accept you in this role? I was acting then and now. So the real Shambhavi is a mystery. Are you agreeing to the fact that Roadies was scripted and you were acting in it? Every reality show is planned and scripted. Yes there are 13 contestants but you are told momentary what to do and things like that. We do it and we have to survive. Everyone has their own tactics to survive. So swearing was a part of the script? Roadies began with swearing and now it’s been 8 years. They thought it worked then and even now. If they stop it now audiences wouldn’t be able to digest it so they don’t have an option but to continue with it.
