Sukriti Kakkar, a singer best known as the sister of Bollywood playback singer Akriti Kakkar, is all ready to spread her wings on the big screen. Currently, she keeps busy giving stage performances with her twin sister Prakriti Kakkar.
In a conversation with Tellychakkar.com she talks about her dream, inspirations and more… Read on.
Why did you pick music as a profession?
We (she and her twin Prakriti) were brought up in a household where we had music all around us with our sister and mother singing at home and to us. That's when we realized that this is exactly what we want to do.
Who have been your musical inspiration?
I've always exposed myself to a wide spectrum of artists and genres. My musical inspiration includes legends ranging Michael Jackson to Beyoncé to AR Rahman.
Where do you see yourself in the next ten years?
In the next ten years, I see myself being the voice of some of the greatest actors and also tour and perform in the most prestigious venues all over the world
If not into music, where do you think you would have been?
If not music, there is fashion and food for me. I would've totally ended up becoming a fashion stylist or something in the culinary world because of my passion for food.
Are you fashion conscious?
Yes. I like to keep myself in loop with the newest trends and be very experimental with clothes.
Tell us what the following terms mean to you…
Family: Biggest support system.
Time: Doesn't come back and needs to be made the most of.
Love: Is life. It is also when someone’s happiness becomes your happiness.
Success: It is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.
How do you think you would like to contribute to the Indian music scene?
I would like to carve a niche for myself in the Indian music scene where I would want to infuse western music culture with the Bollywood scene and make the both ends meet. I also want to cater to audiences who enjoy my music and bring out the best in me.
Any special mentions for the ones who have supported you till now and who you aspire to work with?
I have been grateful to have worked with Monty Sharma, Shankar Mahadevan, Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur, Mika Singh to name a few. I hope to get the opportunity to work with brilliant music composers like AR Rahman, Vishal Shekhar and Amit Trivedi.
