Shashank Vyas who plays Jagya on Balika Vadhu is a talented actor but is he adept at handling finances? TellyChakkar spoke to him on his investments etc. How important is money to you? Money is important but it is not everything. Right now I do not need money and I feel money does not work when people and relationships are involved and people can still help when you need money. Are you an impulsive buyer? No. I am not. If I like a thing I will bargain for it and if I do not get it at the right price I look for an alternative. I think most things have an alternative and you need not be impulsive about one particular thing. What are the investments you have made? I have a few LIC policies and I am looking forward to invest in shares. What is your most expensive purchase? I once bought jeans worth Rs 5,500 but saving is earning for me. So, I try and avoid wasting too much of money on anything. For it's my hard- earned money. Do you feel financially secure? At present I cannot say that I am completely secure but I think I will be soon. I think every person should keep a back up as we all go through bad times and we need something to fall back on then. Who handles your expenses? I do. What was your first salary? My first salary was Rs 5,000 and I had got it for a print ad. But, I got it pretty late. I remember I waited for it for a long time before I called up my coordinator and asked him if he would be paying me at all. Raksha Bandhan was nearing and I had to buy a gift for my sister. I bought a few things for my sister when I got my cheque. How much money do you carry every day? I carry just 500 for I have my credit/debit cards. Any advice for investors? My statement remains the same ‘Saving is earning’. And if you want to invest please research about it. Do not trust others easily, And, in Mumbai I feel you need to invest money in property for if you buy a car you will have to sell it at a lesser prize but if you buy property it pays you more. So, I'd say go for property.
