Zee TV launches 'I Can Do That'

Zee TV launches

You’ve watched them act, sing, dance, host, entertain you with a stand-up act or even whip up a gourmet dish with flourish. They’re distinguished in their own arenas of expertise. But what will they do once you take them out of their comfort zones and challenge them to something they have never attempted before? Something they have neither the exposure to nor the training for? Will they stand up to the challenge with a never-say-die spirit and say “I can do that”?

This festive season, Zee TV introduces Indian audiences to a unique, internationally acclaimed format that will challenge 12 popular celebrities from various walks of life to step out of their comfort zones and perform absolutely stunning, never-seen-before, entertaining acts. Developed by Israel’s Armoza Formats, ‘I Can Do That’ has established itself as a worldwide success. Following an overwhelming response from audiences in America, Italy, Russia and Bulgaria, the show will premiere in India on Zee TV on 17th October, as a 5-week rollercoaster ride packed with entertainment every step of the way. The show will be hosted by the dynamic, multi-faceted actor-director Farhan Akhtar, who will be a friend, confidant and motivator to the celebrities. Having donned every hat – that of a writer, director, actor, producer and reality show host, he embodies the spirit of ‘I Can Do That’.

The 12 celebrities who have accepted the challenge and said ‘I Can Do That’ are - Dino Morea, Gauahar Khan, Gurmeet Choudhary, Mandira Bedi, Rithvik Dhanjani, Shibani Dandekar, Meiyang Chang, Madhurima Tuli, VJs Bani and Andy, Chef Ranvir Brar and Bharti Singh. The show is produced by Essel Vision Production Limited.

Pradeep Hejmadi, Zee TV Business Head said, “Right since its inception, Zee TV’s content has resonated beautifully with the ethos behind ‘I Can Do That’ – be it the singing and dance reality shows that have motivated the masses to channelize their talents and scale their fullest potential or any of its fiction shows that have the core messaging of ‘Ummeed’ embedded. So, a show like ‘I can Do That’ is an ideal fit for our channel. It approaches celebrities with a ‘Can Do’ attitude and poses them with challenges that they’d probably never imagined they could pull off. It traces their journey from ‘Can I Do That?’ to ‘I Can Do That’.

Audiences, the world over, love to watch celebrities on television - whether they perform or are put in a real life situation. This show gives them twelve remarkable achievers from different walks of life pushing themselves to accomplish seemingly insurmountable tasks. Farhan Akhtar is the perfect choice as the host of such a show, having excelled at so many diverse roles in the creative process of film-making effortlessly. With his wit and spontaneity, he brings alive the edgy spirit of the show beautifully. While most non-fiction formats play out over 13 weeks, this will be a short 5 week sparkler for our viewers this festive season.”

Commenting on his comeback on television as a host, the dynamic Farhan Akhtar said, “Zee TV has been at the forefront of Indian television entertainment since its inception and under Punit Goenka’s (MD & CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd) vision is re-inventing itself for the new generation viewer.  'I Can Do That' is an aspirational show that challenges its participants to dream big, be fearless and think out of the box. These are qualities that I find admirable in people and look forward to an entertaining and viewer engaging show.”

Akash Chawla –Business Head, Essel Vision Production Ltd (EVPL) said, ‘We are excited to introduce Indian audiences to ‘I Can do That’ – not just a successful non-fiction format but an inspiring thought. The format allows it to be localised and customized to the sensibilities of our viewers. The Indian edition has an exciting line-up of celebrities who will be challenged every week to outdo each other in a wide range of tasks, ranging from intricate dance choreography to aerial trapeze, from stilt-walking to magic and illusion … from flair bartending to daredevil stunts and much more. Unique Talent teams from across the length and breadth of the country have been specially flown in to demonstrate the challenges that lie ahead for the celebrities and prepare them for the tasks through intensive workshops. We are pushing the envelope in terms of production values to ensure that is a glossy, glitzy show with a high-dose of entertainment.’

So this festive season, starting October 17th  do not forget to tune in to ‘I Can Do That’ every Saturday and Sunday at 9PM on ZEE TV to find out if your favourite celebrities are successful in the challenges they take up!
