MUMBAI: Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has finally opened up about his quiet yet highly speculated divorce from choreographer and social media personality Dhanashree Verma.
The couple, once seen as a picture of modern love, decided to end their five-year-long marriage earlier this year, with legal proceedings conducted discreetly at Bandra court — just ahead of the IPL season.
Their separation stunned fans and followers alike, many of whom refused to believe the news until it was officially confirmed.
Amidst swirling rumours and public conjecture, Chahal found himself at the centre of serious accusations — including claims of infidelity, which he has now firmly denied.

“I have never cheated in my life,” Chahal stated unequivocally in a recent interview. “I’m simply not that kind of person. You won’t find anyone more loyal than me. I’ve never felt the need to justify myself to the world, because the people who matter already know the truth.”
Behind the scenes, however, the cricketer was fighting a deeply personal battle. Speaking candidly about the emotional aftermath of the divorce, Chahal revealed that he had struggled with depression and anxiety. “I went through a very difficult time.
For months, I was mentally exhausted. I experienced anxiety attacks and even had suicidal thoughts — my mind had completely shut down,” he shared. “Only those closest to me know what I was truly going through.”
He went on to credit his support system, especially his family and radio personality RJ Mahvash, for helping him navigate the darkest moments. “My family and Mahvash stood by me when I needed them most. Their support made all the difference.”
Chahal also reflected on his decision to settle the divorce before the IPL, aiming to clear his head ahead of a crucial season. Referring to the time he appeared wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “Be your own sugar daddy”, he explained it was a symbolic moment.
“I wanted to send a message — something had happened from the other side and I decided enough was enough. I wasn’t planning to act on it earlier, but then I thought, everyone can say what they like… I’ll live life on my own terms.”
With the dust now settling, both Chahal and Dhanashree have moved forward in their respective journeys. And while the public may continue to speculate, Chahal's message is clear — he’s done explaining, and he’s ready to reclaim his peace.
