TV actor Abhaas Mehta has the perfect blend of looks, physique and talent.
He rose to fame as Shyam of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon and is currently seen on Zee TV’s Brahmarakshas as Yug.
Abhaas made his comeback on the small screen after a long gap. He mentioned that his long wait was planned as he was not offered the kind of roles that he deserved.
While speaking with Tellychakkar, Abhaas shared, “I am enjoying my stint in Brahmarakshas because the team is hardworking, serious about their shoots and co-ordination. I am fortunate to be working with such a talented bunch of actors.”
He added, “I have already collaborated with director Dinesh Mahadev on another TV show. So I know what kind of a person he is and his style of working. I might play Ahem’s elder brother on the show, but I consider him as my elder brother in real life. I see myself in him. The way he approaches and prepares himself for every scene reminds me of myself.”
We asked Abhaas that if his roles were being typecast.
He said, “Yes, I agree. After playing the role of Shyam people have typecast me. It’s been almost five years since Shyam…I am a changed person and a mature actor. I know my capabilities well. I am not saying that I am the best but I give my 100 percent. Every day I have the urge to learn something new. I challenge myself to be better each time.”
With Brahmarakshas doing well at the ratings chart, we asked him if there’s any pressure. He added, “I have never bothered about ratings. Be honest with your work and your job is done.”
Considering the ensemble theme of the show, we prodded him if he’d ever felt side-lined.
“Never. Before taking up the show I knew about it. I knew that the focus would not be on my character every time.”
Keep up the good work, Abhaas!
