MUMBAI: Television actor Karan Oberoi was arrested by the Oshiwara police on Monday for allegedly raping an astrologer under the pretext of marrying her, reported ANI. The actor is known for his stint in shows like Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin and was recently seen in Inside Edge. An FIR was filed against him after the victim approached the police.
The woman accused the actor of recording a video on his mobile after sedating her and blackmailing her to extort money. She also alleged that he raped her when she was sedated and recorded a video of the same. He then used the video to extort money from her.
The FIR states that the woman met Karan through a dating application in October 2016, and the two had become friends. Karan promised marriage to the woman. The victim claims that one day, when she went to his flat, the accused allegedly offered her coconut water. She started feeling dizzy after consuming it. In her statement, the woman claimed that Karan then raped her and recorded a video of the same. However, whenever she asked him about marriage, he kept ignoring it and would ask for more money.
