Anasua Chowdhury on Being Part of Waack Girls: Receiving Great Feedback

MUMBAI: Actress Anasua Chowdhury, known for her roles in Dil Dosti Dance on Channel V and episodic series such as Savdhaan India, Fear Files, and C.I.D., as well as the movie Laal Singh Chaddha, is currently seen in the web series Waack Girls. The actress is thrilled with the audience's positive response to her performance in the series.

“I am receiving some great feedback. People are saying that I have improved a lot as an artist overall, that my dance looks amazing, and that I am smashing the dance sections. My character, LP, is their favorite. I’ve been getting so many such comments,” she shares.

Reflecting on the shooting experience, she adds, “It was just amazing. I especially loved shooting for the music video Chaap Debe Nah. It was challenging to shoot in different locations, but it was also a lot of fun. Having worked behind the camera as a choreographer for so long, being in front of the camera and lip-syncing was a truly memorable experience for me.”

When asked about challenging moments during the shoot, she recalls, “I remember a fight scene with Michke that was particularly challenging. I’m not someone who would pick fights, chase someone, or call them names. So, I just let myself go, performed the scene, and saw where it led. It turned out to be hilarious if you watch it in the show.”

Talking about working with director Sooni Taraporevala, Anasua says, “Sooni Taraporevala is an absolute genius. The way she steers the ship as a captain is brilliant. I was literally in awe of her. She made the entire process so easy and smooth. She always gave actors room to improvise on set because she trusted them. She also had a clear vision of what would work for a particular scene and the rawness it required. As both a choreographer and an actor, I learned so much from her, especially the importance of working on a set that is quiet and not chaotic.”

And what about a second season? “I really hope there’s a season 2. We’ve put in so much hard work and effort into season 1, and we’re overwhelmed by all the love we’re receiving. Ultimately, it depends on the audience. If they want a season 2, I believe we’ll get one!” she says.
