Anu Malik, the only judge to have been part of all the seasons of Indian Idol is reportedly having differences over money with Sony. Malik informs that it is not money but creative differences which had forced him to re-think his decision to be or not to be part of the show this time. Explaining his side of the story, Malik says, “Money is not the main reason why I chose to quit the show. I know Danish, Mr Singh and Ajit very well. I still have creative differences with them and that is why I did not attend the Delhi press meet. One thing I can tell you is that if someone feels that my remarks are blunt then they should know that I am honest and I cannot lie about anyone’s performace. If I like any singer’s voice then I will stand by that person and will even fight for him or her.” He says the ball is in the court of the channel. “I have presented my views to them. So there are 50-50 percent of chances of me being the third judge. Sunidhi and Salim are nice people. I do not care about how much they are paid. I am loyal to the channel and my work is to select a good voice .I have rejected many offers before this only for this show, as the format of this show is great. I was overwhelmed to hear when people told me, that they will not watch the show without me. Anchors get changed but the channel continued with me as a judge because they know I am bringing something to the table. Further no judges are paid in crores. Therefore, it is pointless to say money is the issue between us.” Danish Khan, vice president and head of marketing says, “There are no issues which cannot be sorted. We are meeting Anu today and will try to get him back in the show. We hope things work out.” On the other hand the production house does not have any issues with Malik. In fact they claim to share a cordial relationship with him. The first gala round schedule of the show is expected to start from May 4.
