Arpita Chatterjee pays tribute to Manna Dey on his death anniversary

KOLKATA: Tollywood actress Arpita Chatterjee remembers legendary singer Manna Dey on his death anniversary today.

Manna Dey was an Indian playback singer and is considered one of the most celebrated vocalists of the Hindi and Bengali film industry. Beginning his career with the film Tamanna in 1942, he went on to sing for many Hindi and Bengali films in variety of styles. For his contribution to the music space, he was bestowed with many prestigious awards including the Padma Shri, the Padma Bhushan, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Some of his popular songs include Ek Chatur Naar (Hindi), Kaun Aya Mere Man Ke Dware (Hindi), Ami Jamini Tumi Shashi Hey (Bengali), Jiboney Ki Pabona (Bengali), and Coffee Houser Shei Adda Ta (Bengali). Leaving behind innumerable songs for his listeners, Dey breathed his last on 24 October 2013 at the age of 94.

Paying tribute to the legend on his death anniversary, Utsab and Satyanweshi fame actress Arpita Chatterjee took to social media and wrote, ‘Indian film industry couldn't have been this melodious without your voice. Hope you are creating magic with your voice up there now.’ She also shared a portrait of Manna Dey.
