MUMBAI: Bigg Boss 19 continues to dominate Indian television, consistently ranking among the top twenty most-watched shows on the BARC charts each week. Packed with emotions, clashes, and constantly changing alliances, the show stays among the most engaging and talked-about reality programmes in the country.

Television actress Akanksha Chamola, wife of Bigg Boss 19 contestant Gaurav Khanna, candidly addressed the widespread speculation regarding their decision to remain childfree after nine years of marriage during her appearance in the house's Family Week.

Her comments offered a clear perspective on personal choice and the enormous weight of parenthood.

The discussion began after a celebrity astrologer had told Gaurav that Akanksha was "already planning" to become a mother. Akanksha promptly dismissed the prediction as a "fluke" or a guess.

She shared her deeply personal feelings, stating: "So far, I haven't felt that inclination, and even in the future, it feels very difficult for me because, I don't know, for some reason, it hasn't come from within me. I don't feel the need to have a kid."

She explained her philosophy: "I have many reasons, and I feel that when you keep finding so many excuses, it means you are not ready, because someone who truly wants to do it doesn't think like this."

Akanksha clarified that her decision stems from a profound sense of responsibility. She emphasised, "I am not scared of it. I don't think I can be that responsible because having a child is not like making a sweet; it's a huge responsibility."

She added, "I don't feel I can justify the job or duty properly. At any age, you have to give your 100%."

She acknowledged this choice is also tied to her professional life: "Yes, I want to build my career, I have many ambitions, and if people call that selfish, that's their view."

Gaurav Khanna, who joined the conversation briefly, was quick to defend his wife, gently telling the others that she was not being "selfish."

Gaurav has consistently shown unwavering support, even confessing that while he personally wants children, he respects her decision, noting that in a love marriage, he must honour his wife's wishes.
