When someone shouts on the sets of Zee TV’s Ramayan, “Calender…khana lao”, then all that is served is vegetarian food.
Foxed? Well…sit back and read…this is what we call a piece of gastronomical news.
Out sources have informed that everyone on the sets of Ramayan, the cast and crew, have shunned non-vegetarian food and become vegans. All for the love of God and to get the feel of the show and characters.

And Gagan Malik aka Ram set the ball rolling. Actually, it was Gagan’s mother who asked him to give up on non-veg food as he is playing a Godly role.
Hence, obeying his mother’s decision the actor gave up on it. However, soon after that, Neha Sargam aka Sita too treaded the same path. When Ram and Sita went veggies, could Laxman have been left far behind? Yes, Neil Bhatt, an eggetarian also took a pran (oath) to shun eating eggs.
Producer of the show Moti Sagar was left very impressed with the move of the actors and later decided to stop the availability of non-vegetarian food on the sets altogether. Hence, now not only the actors but also the crew has gone vegans.
We got in touch with Gagan who confirmed the same and said, “When you are playing Ram’s character it’s natural for your conscious to pinch you, when you do things unlike Ram. Hence, when my mother asked me to give up on non-veg, I did it. Thankfully… I do not smoke and drink so it wasn’t like I had to give on that. And luckily after I took this step everybody else too felt the need for change and they did it.”
Neil too confirmed the same and said, “Yes, it was Gagan’s conscious effort but for most of us it happened at the sub-conscious level. Earlier we used to have non-veg on the sets but then the people who would come on the sets to see the shooting started asking us to avoid non-veg as for them we were Gods.
In fact, one day all of us were just sitting and we laughed about the fact that we actually stopped having non-veg. I am a vegetarian but used to have egg earlier, I do not even have that now.”
This is called commitment folks…way to go!!!
